Headsets

Im looking for an affordable quality headset. I know there are alot of pilots on here. im tired of using the one in the rental lol. What brand do you think is best?

I have a David Clark H10-13S, their around $300 (defiantly worth the price). Good quality, reliable, and comfortable. I had them for only two years but I know people who had them for 20 years and still use them.

What exactly do you want to headset for? Since you asked for pilots I figured you want it for flying, right?

I am very fond of my Turtle Beach X11s and would recommend them for AH and gaming in general, if that's what you're looking for

Do not get the ASUS headsets. They suck. That is all.

I've liked all the David Clark models I've tried, especially the lightweight ones. I currently use the first model of bose ANR headsets that use the old 9 volt batteries, and now they're starting to run through a battery every 3-4 hours of flight (but they work and fit great). At 7 bucks a battery I'm due an upgrade myself . I have numerous friends who swear by the Clarity Aloft headsets although I never got the right fit. Lightspeed Zulu's I wasn't a huge fan of.

DC have been around forever. They have great support. Few (probably more like 10+) years back they changed up the design of the battery pack on the ANR module. I had sent my old style module in for repairs. Instead of repairing it, they just sent me the new version of the module. Set had been out of warranty for at least a year at the time.  Only downside to DC is they can give some people headaches from the pressure (clamp head).

Also have a set of ANR Sennheiser that are really light weight and work great. Things I don't like about them are how some of the sliders/switches are set up.

Bose also have a good rep. I haven't tried them, but I know a few people that love them.

I like my Razer Headset.  Very sturdy great microphone.  $120.  Mine is the SWTOR Headset but there are more "normal" versions available.  Really like their product.



Also I can make the LEDs 16 million different colors.

I use a David Clarke 13.4. It must be ten years old at this stage. Completely reliable even though it's gets trashed almost daily. I'm a skydive pilot and wear it up eight hours a day in the cockpit and I wouldn't say it gets very uncomfortable. But then again after eight hours everything is uncomfortable!

DCs are deservedly popular.

I have a Plantronics with the 3mm plugs, not usb, (based on something Skuzzy posted). $30 at best buy and I've been quite happy with them, especially for the money.

I would get a Zulu 2. They are a little pricey but your hearing will never come back.

I used a David Clark H10-13.4. I don't remember what it cost but it was worth it and still have it. However with the availability amd affordability of ANR technology I'd steer that direction if you're looking to just spend once. Pick a brand with good product support that will stand behind them 10 years from now and go from there.

4 years now wearing Telex 850s and they sold me on ANR. I had my own set of 750s I wore with foam ear plugs before and I'd never go back to that nonsense. Neither of those I'd recommend for piston aircraft FWIW just making a point that if you can afford it, go with ANR.  If not, David Clark's won't do you wrong.
