"Map Controllers" "Mode Selection" question
« on: March 30, 2012, 10:55:50 AM »
In the "Map Controllers - Advanced" menu, are we supposed to be able to save Advanced controls settings to a particular "Mode" (Mode 1 for AC, Mode 2 for GVs, etc.)?  In particular, I can't seem to be able to save "Dead Band" and "Damping" settings to be specific to a particular Mode.  Instead, when I change these (typically to give more Dead Band to GVs, and less to AC) they seem to change for all Modes.  What am I doing wrong here?

Not sure I quite understand but if it's what I think be sure to check "OK" after adjust your settings in any mode before you close the map controller section.

  hope thats the issue!

"OK" saves the settings, but it saves them globally for all Modes.  This is bad, because one does not want the same Dead Band for AC (probably no Dead Band actually) as one wants for GVs (where one wants Dead Band in order to avoid gun "drift" and in order to avoid residual turn input interfering with gear shifts).

How do you save Dead Band, etc. for a single Mode only, without affecting the others?  Otherwise, what's the point of the Mode feature in the first place??

Unless your having a glitch or something it's as simple as selecting the mode, make adjustments and click OK.

I know I have my JS setup different for GV's as opposed to A/C and that was all I had to do.

Morfiend,

Try saving 2 different Dead Band settings, one for Mode 1, another for Mode 2.  See if the the Mode 1 Dead Band setting overwrites the Mode 2 setting.  Maybe the problem is just with Dead Band.

Deadband and damping is not a something you can save to a specific mode. You can access the adjustments in any mode but they are saved globally for all modes. So if you save once in Mode 1 then go to Mode 2 and again alter and save the deadband you will get the last save applied globally for all modes.

TDeacon - You are doing nothing wrong, there is simply no facility to do what you want within Aces High.

Ah, now I understand,Blag is correct on the dampening and deadband!

What I did is adjust the sliders to "dampen" the control inputs for mode2.

If you enable scalling and set it to a mode the game will save tose settings for that mode.

So if your finding your JS is to touchy and it's difficult to control the GV or gun you can use the sliders to control the inputs more to your liking.

I couldnt see why you were having a problem as I didnt realize you were just adjusting the dampening and deadpan!  Try and aggressive slope with the sliders set to bottom from left to right, you can do this while in GV or gun and adjust until you get what you want.

Hope this helps and sorry for the confussion........ :old:  1 of these days I'll remember it's crtlS not shift S to hilite wingman... :bhead
