Bab,

Close this thread now. HTC staff are likely to be deer-in-headlights watching this. Heck they're probably getting some wrist time too.

(from saving the pics to the hard drive of course  :devil )

Great thread, loving the pictures.  Got any better pictures of that A6M in the background?

And I must beg (and brag, but only because you stressed the singular), which one, good sir?  :D

We have two (out of, if we believe correctly, the only four in world (this year)) flying condition A6Ms (both model 3s).  One is privately owned, the other belongs to our museum.

I think the one that isnt ours has its tail strut and tail cone back on, so shouldn't be a problem.  Ours is finishing up a very long maintenance hopefully soon, but last I saw it Saturday it still had a temporary strut in place of the tail's retractable strut.

They're both scheduled along with the Hellcat, with fingers crossed, for some special event in 3-weekends from now revolving around a WWII ship being towed from Frisco to Long Beach, I'll try to find more info.

Rolex,
Could you verify that we have the gist of the rest of the translation right?  Or rather, using your resources/talents, could you give me you're complete version of the entire thing translated, if it's not too much trouble?  I'd like to throw it into the hat, might speed up getting it put on display in the museum too.

Doh!  Sorry INK, will get to it later this afternoon, one more good pic to share of that purty engine.... maybe more on the other camera..... standby.

Glad everyone seems to enjoy.

Edit like #3 - someone told me they're restoring a 2-seat zero somewhere.  I have been curious and been wanting to look more into this for the scoop.

Well the obvious answer to that question is: BOTH  :D
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

Edit:  Almost forgot to add, in addition to the already obvious and shameless promo plugs - but I know we have a number of Man-O-War fans in the game, and we have some sexy, supportive Man-O-War t-shirts (in addition to most our flying aircraft), I think are ~$25 and are sold at the museum, sizes up to 3XL.

Edit2: I'll be darned, them and the Zero's are up.

Sure.

Top-to-bottom
Base name: Yokosuka Naval Base
Date of Manufacture: February, 1944
Size: 3
Name: blank

(Note: Year of manufacture is written as 19. The Japanese date system uses the year of an emperor's reign, so the 19th year of Emperor Hirohito's reign (called the Showa era) was 1944. His son's reign began in 1989, so that was year 64 for Showa or Heisei 1 for the current emperor. This year is 24.)

Constellation time.

So apparently my camera at long-distance (or on low battery maybe) is just not as nice as my new phone....  a mental note has been recorded.

Videos uploading, probably be a bit longer.

So the story is that this has been a resident of the airfield since almost the airport turned from a Air Force base to a MAP.  It was a major signature landmark as the 101 runs right along the airport, only sperated by farm fields, and you'd need to be near blind to miss this big bird sitting out in the open with its large and unique tri-tail design.  It sat there for man many many (many many many) years, exposed to the elements and "passing souvenir collectors" (aka: resident cheaparse pilots/mechanics).  Many turned out to wave it farewell and cross their fingers hoping it would A) get airborne and B) remain airborne until it reached its destination at a museum in Chino, CA.

Yeah me too, but I think if I had a preference, without the radome on the belly... but... maybe I'm just picky.  :D

My back, she hurts, and I am exhausted - but de packard merlin, she is deconstructed, and off at the shop for 2weeks.

I'm partial to the Connie that Eisenhower used or least painted like her. A connie is a connie though radome or not
