b-25b doolittle style
« on: April 05, 2012, 11:32:35 AM »
yes i can see now people complaining about any bomber coming of a carrier but if you do it like doolittle did it historically accurate and useful
they made alot of mods to the aircraft to make it do this one of which was changing its defenses by removing some of the guns

now i can see people complaining about having bomber runs off of carriers but still its something they did and AH always says they are seeking historical accuracy

the historical accuracy of Do little is that it happened only once and that the planes were field modified, so it won't happen in the main arena.

However, once a year, they do run an event the special events arena that simulates this specific mission.

and the ME-163 flew how many times in war????
its record was 16 air victories for 10 losses,
you might arguee 300 of the 163 where built but they only flew a total of 30 times in combat
why do we include some things that where done and very rarely used to not others
this goes along with my kamakazii idea the point is it was done and if you going to include things that where used less often with far less effect why not do things that would be fun and add other tactics to the game
who cares i hate those planes so much

the B25 is not a carrier plane

Kamikaze is not a tactic, its an act of desperation. Grab any plane loaded with bombs, drop them just before you crash like a two weeker on the carrier deck, and that's it, you've done Kamikaze, you're the man.

did it land on a carrier? Can it be stored in a carrier? Does it have an arrestor hook and reinforced landing gear?

it was stored on the deck
if you wanna make it more realistic make it so only 15 can up off a carrier each time it spawns and then no more
the plan was never to land on the carrier but to continue on
not that it matter ive put a Lancaster down on a carrier in game play

Been asked for before over the years & it has not happened yet I doubt it will happen now.
When the B-25 first came out you could up off of a CV the practice was pointless though with all the late war aircraft just waiting out of the CV ack for them to come ashore most people just stopped upping.

The TBM-3 is a more capable bomber than the B-25 you are describing.  Just use it.

How about fly a TBM and carry 4x500 lb bombs... just like the Doolittle raiders carried?

Oh, and you don't have to give up any guns =)

So you're saying you're not a new poster, you've been around for a while?

Is there a reason you can't post under your old forum name(s)? Just curious.  :)

No Comedy Channel tonight for me!!
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.
