A lil run to the 'Canyon'
« on: April 08, 2012, 04:20:30 PM »
Woke yesterday mornin, Kathy asked 'what do you want to do today' ..
..I answered 'Grand Canyon' . . ohh yaa
.. all the years we have lived in AZ and neither of us had ever been.

I mean .. we both graduated from Alhambra High School right on 35th and Camelback
...were married at the St. Simon and Jude Cathedral by the Bishop no less,
..heck I even enlisted in the USAF right here in downtown Phoenix all those years ago.

-and-

All the road trips over the years and Kathy just did not time it right to see a deer
.. I mean, I have seen dozens here n there ..Kathy .. zip ..bummed .. nada.

How bad?

She was downtown shoppin when we were at a friends house in Georgia,
..two deer came right up along the porch and into the bbq pit and up the hillside.
My friend and I both laughed our butts off because Kathy would *never* believe it actually happened.

Well.

At the Grand Canyon I had to STOP to let a deer cross the road right in front of us.
Kathy had to wave it across before it would move .. ROFL
... then we spotted the other 4 just at the tree line.

About 30 feet away.

Watching us.

Turned out we counted *nine* all together eventually.

She was grinnin like a kid.

It was a good day :)

A great cruise up an back .. avg 29.8mpg, just under 500 miles all together, cruisin at ~80mph most of the way.

Vette is just a damn fine automobile to cruise in :)

I lived in Casa Granda for awhile, never went and saw the Canyon, wish I did.
