Low Frame Rates
« on: April 13, 2012, 04:00:47 PM »
Been dealing with Dell Support for some time now  :O  OMG!!!!  Dell out sources the support.  It's bad when you can't understand what they are saying, it's even worst when they can't understand what I'm saying  :O

I've one heck of a gaming rig, yet my frame rate is taking one hell of a hit.  Mind you, I am no computer minded person.......so keep it simple.  It appears I have a memory problem (that coming from someone who is STUPID with computers).  I'll post my chit, hopefully someone (other than DELL) can help.

Damn, I lost the title for pulling up system info, anyone?

start/run/dxdiag. clcik the save info button at the bottom. Cut and paste the first third of that saved file here. (whole thing is to large to fit and the first third is usually enough info to help you out.)

Just real quick.

1)  You need to look at what is running in the background and the average CPU usage.  Your CPU is not that fast and is going to limit your performance, so you need to free it up as much as possible.
2)  You have two active sound cards.  Get rid of one of them.  That will cause stability and performance issues.

Yall just don't understand, I've been on the phone will DELL for the past week and a half.  Between they can't understand me, and I can't understand them.......... :O  Last DELL guy screwed up my settings so bad, it took me 2 hours to undo what he did  :O

Wish I had of posted in here a month ago

Glad you have it resolved.

Windows has never been able to deal with multiple hardware sound devices well at all.

Lots of video cards have an "HD Audio" chip on them for playing DVDs in the computer.  I think that may be what you ran into, here.

that is exactly what happen. SWrokit had his monitor hooked up VIA HDMI cord and audio coming thru it.

for those of you that might find this thread looking to resolve the same problem, you can disable the sound from the video card in the video cards tool bar. for Nvidia you just open up the video management tool and disable it in there.

But the video card "HD audio" chip doesn't affect normal on-board(MB) sound chips?  Or can it?

Sure it can, due to how Microsoft chains all the devices together.  It is an absolute kludge how they manage multiple sound devices.
