spitfires
« on: April 14, 2012, 03:32:06 AM »
apparently the British government is in talks with the Burmese government to locate several unused Spitfire buried in Burma before the Japanese could get hold if them :old:

We had supply dumps buried in Britain just in case the Narzies invaded.

My great uncle worked with a bloke who had a contract to reclaim them, apparently they were buried in such a way that preserved them. ( They reclaimed the vehcles and sold the petrol on the blackmarket in the 1950's)

The guy stuck a scope down into one of the crates and said this when he seen them......."They seemed to be in good condition.”

I did the same thing once. I buried a batman action figure in the woods in my backyard. I wonder if he still works

I would give anything (I'd even begin cutting off toes) to be a part of that dig....
Like, ya know, when that thing that makes you move, it has pistons and things, When your thingamajigy is providing power, you do not hear other peoples thingamajig when they are providing power.

They buried stuff in the UK during the war, my Great Uncle used to do business with a bloke in 1950's who had contract to retrieve caches.

Apparently they were after the fuel from the vehicles.
