I'm no "guru" here but this is what I would look at. There is an issue with AMD cpus where they don't run all cores in the game. Your headset is USB which uses CPU power. If the cpu isn't running all its cores you might be running into a starvation issue in which case windows may be dropping sound to save room for the other things it's trying to run. Try running the game for a bit using desktop speakers with out the headset to see if it runs without issues.

It really does sound like there is something blocking the games VOX function.  Like a firewall or router firewall or anti-xxx software.  Or if you are on wireless, just a lot of bit errors in the stream.  Maybe the router is due for a power cycle?

Just bought a new router, a Cisco ea4500.  Is there a certain setting I'm looking for?

The VOX server needs to connect back to your computer.  Typically, firewalls block this as it is an asynchronous connection request which is not established.

If the router firewall is enabled, then it may be blocking the game VOX connection.

Easy way to verify this is to remove the router from the network, connect directly to the cable modem and see if VOX works.  If it does, then you know where the problem is.  As to how to fix it, I have no idea.  It will be some configuration option in the router.

I just bought a new router Cisco e4500, still does it.  Now the external sounds go out after. About 2 minutes, vox works even when the exterior sounds quit.  My gun and stress and stall sounds still work.  Seems like internal to me sounds always work but the external one go away.

VOX and external sounds are two different systems.  VOX depends on networking, external sounds do not.  As far as the game is concerned, game sounds are game sounds.  VOX is the only thing unique.

Check your speaker configuration in Windows, also check the sound devices the game is using as well (Options->Preferences->Game Sounds).  If your computer has more than one active sound card (check that in DXDIAG, should only be one sound tab), then that can also cause problems.

If you are using a custom soundpack, change back to the default game sounds untill you work out this issue.
