Teamspeak/AH Keyboard?
« on: April 16, 2012, 01:01:38 AM »
Is there any way to assign a key on the keyboard to a button on one of my controllers?  I have all CH stuff but I don't want to use the CH Manager because I'd have to assign everything else in it too. I don't like voice activated TS because every time you cough or sneeze it transmits  :frown:
I have a key assigned for push to talk and it doesn't cause a conflict in AH, all I need is a way to assign that key to a button... there's gotta be a way  :joystick: :cry

Do you mean something like "Ctrl+Trigger", "Alt+Trigger" and such? Not in that way, but another way, yes.

First you'll have to map the four Modes into your keyboard. You know, Clipboard->Options->Controls->Map keys->Global->Mode[1/2/3/4] select. Save the mode settings.
Next go to "Map controllers", select another Mode than Mode 1 and map all the buttons you wish.

Let's assume you've just mapped the modes logically to keys Alt+1, Alt+2, Alt+3 and Alt+4. In the normal flight mode (Alt+1) your trigger will most likely make your primary weapon shoot. Mode 2 could have the same trigger to be assigned to open Clipboard, Mode 3 bail out and Mode 4 check 6. You can change them in flight, the radio buffer will inform you by a "Mode # selected" message.

I'd not recommend using variations on vital combat controls, though. The example above would be suicidal if you had left Mode 3 on while sneaking to the enemy's six...

Happy tinkering! :joystick:

I'm not altogether sure how to use the modes but in my mind I see it as changing the entire set of controller assignments when changing to another "mode".  Even with that I don't see how that changes the way AH allows you to assign keys from the keyboard to the controller. As far as I can tell, you can change the function of keyboard keys to whatever is available in it's list of functions. You can assign/change controller buttons/axis to whatever is available in the controller list.
Specifically, I want to assign the ~ key to a button on my controller to be an on-off switch so that it will activate the push to talk function on Teamspeak3.

@MrRiplEy: The link you provided is dead as far as the download itself goes. Thanx :)

Yepp. That's what it does.

I'm not familiar with Teamspeak and a quick google just gave me a clue what push to talk means... Apparently Teamspeak doesn't allow to directly map its functions to game controller buttons. Here's something that might help: http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm

Thanx, I downloaded it and tried to make it work with no luck :(
I don't see a connection between it and Aces High. I assigned the TAB key to it and Teamspeak, in AH I have the TAB key clear. With AH minimized and Teamspeak in test mode, pushing the assigned controller button did nothing :(
Maybe someone that's familiar with this setup can point to the problem (?)
Thanx Biz!
