I started this book at 0400 this morning and just finished it in one sitting. (Minus bathroom and coffee breaks, of course.)

I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the period.

It is a favorite among the 80th FS members. Some have even gone so far as to try and identify characters from the book based of the references to their locations and kills. Great read, a nice alternative prospective to the "I was scared of nothing but landing less kills than my wingman" view that some books seem to take . In fact the P39 screenshot that HTC uses from Cactus was on one of our many "Nanette" themed flights.

Nanette is one of my favorite books, whenever I read it I feel compelled to jump into the MA and fly the P-39.

It has been added to my ever growing long list of books to read eventually.  I'll never be able to finish them all.  Oh well.

I have a stack of books in my room about 20 or so that I want to read but never get around to it.

I've been hammering down the throats of anyone who would listen forever.  Best fighter pilot book ever.  Parks P38 flying buddy Guppy was the inspiration for my cartoon 38 pilot.  Guppy35 being reference to the 38 driver from the book and 35 referencing the 35th FG that both Park and Guppy served in.

What I'm trying to do is build a library for future generations. I also have "Battles and Leaders of The Civil War", which is a four volume compilation from "The Century" magazine. It is first hand telling of the Civil War from the perspective of the combatants.


Those that forget their history are doomed to repeat it.


 


EDIT: I also re-read "Cracker, The Best Dog in Vietnam", "Cleared Hot", and I put "Pocket Ref", "Measure For Measure" and "Machinists Guide" in my toolbox, even though I'm not a machinist.
