Be ready to shell out a grand (pun intended lol) unless you go to the CMP. Mine cost $620 shipped to my door.

I paid 300 for mine selino but that was years ago :).  I have never fired it, well except once when I almost shot the dog for taking a dump in my room while i was in the middle of a dogfight.

Yep. BUT... There's a bunch of paperwork first. You have to be a member of a CMP club, or otherwise eligible (U.S. Military), have to have several documents notarized, and there were a few other things IIRC. It's still the best deal on the planet, and requires no FFL, but the wait time can be long and not everyone is eligible.

Is the a list of CMP clubs anywhere?  I think that that would be the hang up for me.  I don't know of any active shooting clubs in the area, and don't know where to start trying to find one.

I didn't spot one on the website (might have missed it), maybe I'll just give them a call and ask.

For Individuals Seeking a Club

By law, the CMP can sell surplus military firearms, ammunition, parts and other items only to members of CMP affiliated clubs who are also U.S. citizens, over 18 years of age and who are legally eligible to purchase a firearm. You must provide a copy of your current membership card or other proof of membership. This requirement cannot be waived. The CMP currently has over 2,000 affiliated organizations located in many parts of the country.

Membership in many of these organizations costs $25.00 or less and can be accomplished online. A listing of affiliated organizations can be found here. If you have any difficulty in locating a club, please contact the CMP at 419-635-2141, ext. 1182 or by emailing CMP Customer Service and we will find one for you.

In addition to shooting clubs, the CMP also has several special affiliates. Membership in these organizations satisfies our requirement for purchase. They include: Congressionally chartered veterans' organizations such as the VFW, AL, DAV, MCL, etc., U.S. Military services (active or reserves), National Guard, to include retirees. Finally, professional 501(c)3 law enforcement organizations and associations such as the FOP, NAPO, NSA, etc are included.

Please note: club membership IS required for purchase of rifles, parts, and ammunition. Club membership IS NOT required for purchase of instructional publications or videos or CMP memorabilia.

Check out the bold print. Surely you or someone you know falls into this category. Otherwise, like you said, give them a call.

THAT is a sweet revolver.  Get as many half-moon clips for it as you can!!!  They did manurfacture a .45 ACP Rimmed for some time to accomadate this exact revolver, you may still even be able to find the brass to reload for it.  I'd love to have a 1917 revolver .45, but I'm REALLY hoping to find a Webley Mk VI in .455, to go with its little brother the Webley Mk IV in .38/200 that I have in the gun safe.   :D
