USB extenders
« on: May 01, 2012, 02:29:14 PM »
Hoping to get back into the mix shortly, but the only place for my machine is 3 feet (if not more) from my X52 throttle. anyone who has ever owned one, knows the USB cord isnt very long. My USB cord isnt gonna be long enough, so I'll need to buy an extender, or find some other to do my throttle, WEP, flaps, RPM and landing gear without using keyboard. thoughts?

Try a usb hub! I have a belkin with a 9 foot cord!

As a side benefit you'll have a good power supply to power your X52!

I'd just get a good quality* long USB extender cable. if you can solder, replace the existing one on the throttle. either way plug it into a USB bus on the PC and make sure nothing else is on that bus (each bus usually has 2/4 ports, but check your mobo.) put any other USB stuff on a different bus. that way you get one bus running the X52 and it (hopefully) wont be screwed by other devices, plus you get a decent power supply :aok

* gold plated contacts, solid connectors and decent cable, not expensive ...

Another +1 for the 'get a powered hub' brigade.
