Best regards to all :(

Greetings

I thank you all good poeple

I enjoyed myself greatly with you guys
and it is with tears in eyes that I have
to leave Aces High.

You are a very good bunch of chaps and I
will never forget it

Special thanks for my good buddy Sunchaser
Lephturn;Idian and every one else that I had
the previlege to met here I learned a lot
from you guys.

As my two weeks trial ended and as I already
paying nearly $100.00 Can for the internet
taxes and all each month it would be to much with an addition of $30.00 US(=45.00 Can)

It's a shame that they ask for so much money
without thinking about exchange of other
countries and about the fact that each one
of you are already paying for the internet
the games you have bought telephone bills or connection..etc..etc..etc..et c..

Even if I understand that lot of work as
been done to do Aces High what it is now
if people would be charge a bit less like
$15.00/month immagine how many people would
come here (and more people=more money even
more than what they will do charging $30.00
monthly )

In my book to make money you must be "wise" not greedy and espacialy thinking about poeple first.

I hope one day someone will give us a FREE
place to enjoy ourselfs as we deserve it
(at 51 I am,since a long time..raising kids,
thinking about enjoying myself for a change)

Anyway Aces High is a SUPER place
but a bit too expensive

Sorry to see you go. I wouldn't be too critical of HTC, as you really don't know their economics. Disagree if you will, but "greedy" is a bit harsh IMHO.

How much is a six-pack of Labatt's or Moosehead in Canada?

The going price in my neighborhood is about $6 US and that's $9 CAN by your example.

So what's Canadian beer selling for in Canada?

Well met RANKER and I agree on the price.

Thirty dollars is not much money these days but the money spent getting to the point where the $30 gets used can add up to a lot.

We in the US are fortunate to have many cheap options for internet access and were I spending what you and others outside the US have to spend to fly Aces High I would not be here now either.

It seems that the oldtimers in pay to play have the time and money to make this thier home and they are not particularly interested in having new neighbors.

This translates into low tolerance for opinions not in line with their own regarding costs of online gaming.

They also seem to think that the thirty dollars will keep out the riff-raff and loudmouth idiots, not so and proven daily on the message bar and the fact that I am here, at least for a couple of months more.

They also call WWII BOMBERS buffs, a term not used till the Boeing B52 was flying.

Have a good one RANKER and I hope to see you in the head to head arena all us cheapies are waiting impatiently for.

Sunchaser-

Why the defensive posture? There has been nothing exclusionary about any of the responses, in fact, I've found them all to be generally supportive.

This thread has frequented the board many times. There are some absolutes in this area:

1. HTC has decided on a business strategy- a compromise between high $ per/hour and low flat-rate pricing.
2. This plan will fall outside the ability of many to pay.
3. This plan will fall within the ability of many to pay.
4. There are often trade-offs in our everyday life that put this price within range. We are either willing to do it or we are not.
5. The price is not an effective "dweeb filter". This would be suggesting only poor people are dweebs, and that is simply not true.
6. Most people I meet here are sympathetic and helpful, and genuinely want this project to grow. There is very little "country club" mentality that I have perceived. People that treat others with respect receive respect.
7. You may be absolutely correct on the origin and denotation of the word "buff", but its connotation with this community (online sims) would be any multi-engine bomber.

Sorry you seem so disaffected by the players here.

Why does Canada (and other countries) have spendy internet rates?  This is a real question.  $100 for internet taxes?  I'd be talking to my representative.

I dont get that one either sudz. Unless he is paying for some kind of high speed access but even then...22 bucks a month unlimited online time is what I pay, and I am greatfull for the 30 dollars flat rate for Aces High.

I am in Canada, and don't have this issue.

In Nova Scotia, for between $40 and $45 per month you can get Cable of DSL.  A 56k Dial-up connection can be had for $20 /month, and that's pretty much accross Canada.  We don't pay for local phone service or anything.  Hell, I set up businesses with a Proxy server and 10 machines that only costs $100 /month for a business cable modem connection.

Heck, I had a $40/month cable modem 3 years ago here in Halifax....

BTW, the price of Beer depends on the provice quite a bit.  Here a 6 pack will cost you about $8.00 I think.  Who buys 6 packs?  I don't know.    I do know a 4L box of red wine costs $30.00  And a 6 pack of Corona is WAY too expensive, like $17.00.

Leph,

So, beer's at about the same exchange rate as AH then, right?

I'll lobby HT and Pyro hard for lower prices in Canada if you can get the Canadian beer prices lower here!

Greetings people

First I have to appologies because my emotions seemed to have taken control
of my writing truely surry about that

To be honnest with Aces High programmers and
all of you people it's a dam good place to
make friends.
KIEREN

When you say " most people I meet here are sympathetic and helpful" I agree 100%

SUD & ROSCO

six-pack = $7.99+14.5%taxes=$9.14
12 bottles=$17.64+14.5%taxes=$20.20
24 bottles=$26.75+14.5&taxes=$30.63

LEPHTURN

Maybe you dont know this but in Quebec we
pay more taxes than all the provinces of
Canada ;(

Regarding my monthly bill...just receive it
Surely you heard about Bell Sympatico high speed (DSL)..you need this to have a respectfull speed for downloads or have a good rate for games as WW2 aircrafts

Modem location=$10.00/monthly
Internet server$39.95/monthly
sub total of $49.95
TPS (7.00%) =$ 3.50
TVQ (7.50%) =$ 4.01
for a total of $57.46/monthly

for all the readers

I refer you to  www.x-rates.com/table/cad.html
Canadian dollard    =0.6855
United Statesdollard=1.4587
CAN YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE ??!!

So $30.00 US/month for Aces High if you
can figure it out in Canadian money+$57.46
I was not too far off ($100.00Can) ;(

I hope this can help you to understand me
a bit beter

Ranker,

Hope you can find a way to stay. Never meant to dump on you, just pointing out that money is money everywhere.

Canadian beer around here is $5.99 a six pack with 7.8% tax.

Using your numbers, I'm paying a few cents more a six pack than you are for Canadian beer.

Money is money.

We do seem to have a lower ISP cost than you however. Mine is $20 US unlimited plus tax.

Like I said, hope you find a way to stay!

Best Regards
