The XO screamed, quite perturb'd
Tried to take off, but only got Whirb'd

I winged over for a look, and what did I see
streams of angry tracers flashed by my IID

I barreled down, gave the throttle a chop
skidded to the left, took one in the prop

I turned dead on him, my fate already sealed
tracking my moves, his lethal battery wheeled

I slammed the throttle forward, smoke poured from the cams
If a K4's got taters, well then I got yams

He was in my sights, I expected to die
But in camping the base, his stores'd run dry

I unleashed fury, underwing monsters spit
the first two went long, but their sisters hit

to the left I rolled, with a sharp bank
panning, smoke! a burning tank!

I smirked and snickered, tittered with glee
I saw my kill, but not the damned tree!

awesome :rofl :aok

"Fly With Me"

As I wake, I see my life,
A fire burning, deep inside,
All I want, and long to be...
Close my eyes,
return to dreams.
Windswept clouds, completely free,
All the skies belong to me.
Very few depart the ground,
yet in the air is courage found.
Fly now sir, you aren't alone,
for in these skies, I've found my home.
Blessed are we, who dare to fly.
We've found ourselves amongst the skies.
Soaring bird,
your heart is free,
Come spread your wings,
and fly with me.

"You see, we got a little hole in that flag there,
When Washington took it across the Delaware.
and It got powder burned the night Francis Scott Key sat watching it,
writing "Say Can You See"
It got a rip in New Orleans, with Packingham & Jackson
 tugging at its seams.
and It almost fell at the Alamo
beside the Texas flag,
 But she waved on though.
She got cut with a sword at Chancellorsville,
And she got cut again at Shiloh Hill.
There was Robert E. Lee and Beauregard and Bragg,
And the south wind blew hard on
 That Ragged Old Flag

  I climbed in the seat,
  fired up the machine.
  The glow on my face,
  made a ghostly scene.

  I test the controls
  they had to be right.
  As several others
  were readied for flight.

  Signaled to start,
  birds sputter and whine.
  chocks pulled back,
  I pull to the line.

  Flaps deployed,
  all systems rechecked.
  The airframe shudders,
  as it struggles off deck.

  Like a flock of gulls,
  we rise from the sea.
  A storm is brewing,
  at it's center we'll be.

  We don't seek glory,
  it's duty that called.
  The World is on fire,
  it had to be solved.

  Though a terrible journey
in the end we had won.
  Killing to stop evil,
  it had to be done.

  I've lost many friends,
  that I'll never forget.
  as you enjoy the peace,
  Please thank a Vet.

  :salute
