Build for my nephew's wife

She will be doing phtography. and photo editing.
also watch movies and maybe play a couple games

What are your thoughts of this build.
And can we get it down to around $500 which was their requested budget not including the OS

Yes you can.  Use cheaper everything.

Are you building a gaming rig light?

Photo editing doesn't need much.

She's been getting into it professionally for about a year now

she will be using Win7.

Skip the Rosewill and spend $10 more on this one.   You'll be glad you did.

Why do you place a 600+ Watt PSU in a system hardly ever reaching 250W power usage?
With a quality 400W PSU you have more than enough room for possible graphics upgrades.

i have seen many posts recommending against rosswell ps.  including from skuzzy, if i remember correctly.

Update. He's willing to go to $600

Provides a little bit more breathing room

He's looking at it this way. Even if it last him only 3 years. Thats still less the $2 a day.

if amd is pulling out of the pc market then might as well go to best buy and get one of the 500 puters.  you are getting really cheap components that will probably work but there's always the chance they might fail then cost more money in the long run.

I would skip the video card and just use on board graphics. It will be fine for Photoshop. She can always save up for a better vc in the future if she finds she isn't satisfied with on board video for some reason. You can also look for a cheaper case. I am assuming that being a woman she wont care what the case looks like. Cheaper ones can be found. I used this PS on my wifes build and it is much cheaper http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151086 I basically built a system for my wife for this exact use (Photoshop (not professionally),email, browsing the web, etc) and she hasn't complained one bit about the on board graphics and really wouldn't know the difference anyway. I think you can put a machine together that will do what she wants for cheaper.
