AH players meetup
« on: May 05, 2012, 10:46:22 PM »
Well I made my way up to the temple airshow today and met up with another AHer named 1sum41. As soon as I showed up to the show I got drafted into service at the Angel Flight booth until 4:15 when everyone started leaving. I met up with 1sum41 and we went flying! I don't think I scared him too bad, he didn't even stain the seats! Heck most of the time he had a smile on his face. I showed him a REAL short field takeoff (about a 200' ground roll) and slow flight in a 172 with a STOL kit. We popped up to 3500' and got it below 40mph - I figure we were prolly doing about 35 mph when it finally stalled. Temple has a very long runway, so I also showed him the merits of a hover taxi (staying in ground effect a few inches off the ground with a little power in floating down the runway) It was a great time! I think I will probably end up joining the same CAF wing as him because it seems to be a really good group. Here was the picture to commemorate the event.

1sum41 was very amused when he told me I should do an overhead break in the skyhawk, and then I did one. It's actually one of the safest ways to enter the pattern.

1sum41 and I will also be at the Hondo army airfield fly-in on May 19th. If you can make it come on down!

Junky is and has been for a little bit now.  I don't know about Selino, but I don't think he was too far behind Junky.
