FPS higher then 60?

I know I run the game at full settings, ( which, for this game isnt much) but I dont know if ive ever seen my game go over 60 FPS. I've heard people say 60 is prime because anything more and the human eye doesnt register it anyway? not sure if thats true or not. But my question is how many of you run over 60 FPS all the time, with maxed out settings? Because 60 seems like my limit here, yet my computer should be able to easily make more..

Here is what Im running..

Intel I5-2550k 3.4 GHZ
4TB SATA IIII 8200 RPM
Kingston Hyper-X 6GB DDR3
I run two Nvidia GTX560 2 GB cards

there is more obviously but this is the meaty part that effects FPS.

Sounds like you have v-sync enabled, which forces the game to sync to the refresh rate of your monitor. That is the desired setting. If you turn off v-sync, you may well run way over 60fps but may experience anamolies such as rubber bullet syndrome all the way up to frying your monitor.

Im actually going to try turning it off, just to see what it shows me running at in game. thanks for being so fast and helpful ImADot  

UPDATE : With V-sync on I hold a constant 59-60 FPS, once off im sitting at 218 FPS....    itll go up over 300 but normally is bouncing between that and 200

Yeah, that's great, but here's the thing:  The monitor is only displaying 60.  Since the monitor's what you're looking at, vsync disabled isn't doing you a bit of good, and runs the risk of the problems imadot mentioned, though I'm not sure about the monitor frying.

The only thing I find useful about turning off vsync is how close to dropping below 60 you're getting in different situations.

If you want to go above 60 fps, you've got to get a monitor whose refresh rate is above 60 Hz. Most lcd's do 60, since they don't flicker. The good old crt's did at least 85 with their optimal resolution, some of them above 100Hz. Modern television sets claim to do several hundred Hz but I guess that doesn't apply as such to computer gaming. Would be nice, though, to run AH at constant 200 fps with vertical sync on on a 42 inch screen...

i see you're running dual gtx560s. are you using an nvidia sli profile?

with v-sync enabled you're going to incur some input lag...how much? depends, if you're running good "newish" equipment with an actual monitor, and don't have a lot of things plugged into your system, not enough to worry about. there are some newer models of lcd televisions that have input lag times lower than computer monitors...and there many more that have really high input lag times. just have to choose carefully.

if you want to run higher frame rates with v-sync enabled, you could try one of the newer 120hz monitors and use the display port connection. it's going to be a bit pricey compared to a standard 60hz lcd monitor but, combined with the latest upper end video cards, those who can afford the upgrades are loving the results.

60 is the most your monitor refresh rate can display.  if you disable vsync that is just how many frames the vc sends to the monitor.  the monitor still wont display more than 60.  you can have many problems with vsync off such as rubber bullets or tearing.  if your display is always at 60 be happy as that means you are doing a good job and your puter is top of the line.  assuming you have everything on.  I can play with everything on and shadows at 4096 with 3 monitors on 2 nvidia gtx465.  I dont use the sli patch as I believe it isnt "enhanced" (i forget the word) for aces high per another thread posted a week or two ago.
