compared to the current LVT this is a upgrade at least when you hit land you can drive at a decent speed

Ducks in San Fran too, the driver on our tour let my drive it when we were in the Bay, let me drive it under the Bay bridge and around one of the supports.  :neener:

come to find out there later models where slower in the water and on land due to added armor but either way here are some pics i found that i though where neat
you can see them with some LVT's in the one and in the other you got a good view of the 50 cal AA gun mount

still can't find a reason this wouldn't be a good add not to mention it was at all the major landings in all areas of the war and there where over 21000 that saw combat

I agree with Dover. Wouldn't think it would be overly difficult to add, since theres no new armament or flight model. Most of it would be visual modeling I think.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

The reason, I think, is more from the Focal point of the game rather being historically accurate at this point, for the DUCk's and other vehicles being present. It's and  balancing act on the fulcrum of Realism versus playability or immediate action and fun. I, like many players, here would love to see this and a lot of other historically relevant items in the game but the ground war in Aces High is not a main focal point for the game over all- yet. It's largely the Air War. Many Players would love to Blow stuff up rather than drive around supporting others blowing stuff up. That's ultimately why we have the list of vehicles we do. In that list we have medium and heavy tanks, but No light tanks (that I am aware of) or No Artillery pieces beyond the naval batteries.  However with the inclusion of the Jeep... its highly possible that this piece of the pie is still evolving albeit at a slower pace than the air war....

Just my opinion.
Yes there is a Huge learning curve in flying. It starts on Take off and ends on the glide slope for landing. In short The grade arc is the difference you take between being in the sky or in a mountainside.

true but i think its a vital game peice for both taking bases in general as well as cv base takes

first once you hit ground it moves unlike the lvt's (55mph on land duck , 20 mph land lvt) has the same speed in the water or nearly its 2 knots less

but the other thing that i have run across its rare but a few maps have rivers or what not near bases and i have had 3 bases i can think of off the top of my head where this would be great cause instead of driving long distance around the base to avoid the ack you could cut threw the water and one base even had a river between the spawn and town there was no way to get a m3 there and the lvt is just way to slow to make the long trip

Used to ride them every year in the Wisconsin Dells.  Then didn't for a number of years.  Took the kids a couple of years ago for the first time.

We rode Sherry...  Which has a super secret High School meaning for me, which I don't plan on telling my wife or kids about...  Let's just say it wasn't the first time that I "rode" Sherry!   :bolt:

Well after she was voted best ride in Wisconsin why wouldn't you  :lol

Dover, I would love to see the DUCk in game.  However, the counter to this would be essentially: We have the L.T.V's and they are armored ( or better armored) than the DUCk's. The L.T.V's serve the same function as a troop or supply ferry. It's a strong argument, but overland speed would be a sufficient trade off.

Perhaps we could trade the  un-gunned L.T.V for the Duck that way the unarmored Duck could be escorted? a 1 for 1 trade?

your breaking realism there then and why have a armored slow as crap vehicle with no defense when you have can have a quicker vehicle with a gun and almost the same armor as a m3 has

everyone knows the troop carriers are weak in this game anyone of the the m3 the lvt and the c47 can be killed by one good burst of fire from a plane (sdk is the only exception and the least used one of them)

this is pretty much a half ton truck with a boat on the bottom yeah that armor isn't as good as the lvt but i know for a fact that if given the option these would be used more often do people drive the SDK more than the m3 is has better armor and better attack capabilities but i think im the only person who ever actually uses them to take bases and half the time i do that cause its fun to try and shoot things with the rockets (and i do have 2 tank kills in one)

the point is you want a faster troop transport how many times have you done a cv mission and everything is clear deacked and your just waiting for the lvt to drive on land to the town cause its not near the water.  how would you like to see maps where the makers don't feel they need to put the towns right on the water

Dover,

I agree with you. I would love to see the Ducks in game. Just to clarify; What I was trying to say in my suggestion was (and perhaps I stated it poorly): Take the LTVA2 (.50cal, 2x .30calbers with troops or supplies) out of the game and implement the Ducks as replacement for that vehicle only. This leaves the LVTA4 in the game.

thus in effect trading 1 for 1.

No matter the final outcome, i think adding the Ducks is great idea.

there is no reason for taking something out of the game in trade, i say we have ducks and lvt's. those who dont like the idea dont have to take ducks although id have to think that those people dont drive many lvts or they'd understand why these would be such an improvement. if anything i offer a compromise, add both, but let the lvt carry field supplies and troops, while the duck would be allowed troops and vehicle supplies. then we have a way to resupply the odd lvt4 that makes its way to land, and the lvt2 would still see some use
