What can you determine of the aircraft in each of these photos? Not a quiz, just a fun exercise in observation.

Top one is a Nakajima Kikka.  Fuselages in the background might be for G8N 'Rita' bombers.

Bottom is a J2M in formation with an F6F and a Seafire.  Not sure what version of the J2M though.  I've read second hand accounts that US test pilots thought the J2M was an excellent aircraft.  It would be nice to get it in AH.

Is that an Okha fuselage by the Rita bodies, behind the scaffolding on the floor?

That the Japanese were busy changing their doctrine in response to contact with the Americans? That the factory wasn't underground?

Nice pictures, especially the top one. Have you got a HD version? Why did plus fours ever go out of fashion by the way? It's a mystery.

Hasn't the Raiden got stumpy little wings? Looks all out of proportion, like a caricature.

I assume this is just post war.  What strikes me most is how we have a picture of a couple of the most advanced Japanese projects sitting in a hanger that is pooled with water.

Above the Japanese's head there is Just a bit of a cockpit, what on earth is that aircraft going to be?  That looks  like an awfully large fuselage. Ki84?

No, it's another one of the saem plane in the forground. You can even see the engine mounts on the bits of wing.

Thanks Karnak, I have read that pdf. The Raiden is a funny looking bird but I can see the attraction. You know what it would get used for in the MA though

I do like the Kikka, nice shape and the engines are a testament to creative design under severe restrictions.

I got the impression the roof had large holes in it. Must have been weird in such places when the party was finally over.
