D-Day event, running on June 6 (anniversary of D-Day)
« on: May 09, 2012, 02:47:11 PM »
Running on June 6 at 8:30 pm Eastern time in Special Events I arena.  An unlimited-life event.  All are welcome.

It was the largest amphibious invasion of all time, with 5000 allied ships and 175,000 troops attacking the Atlantic Wall of Hitler's Fortress Europe. They landed on the beaches of Normandy, in sectors codenamed Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword.

It's the day of days -- time to paint on your invasion stripes and go hit those beaches.

Folks, if this sounds interesting to you, please mark it on your calendar and recruit others to join us.

The bigger the turn out, the more fun it is.

Yesterday's "This Day in WWII" (Coral Sea) got 92 players.  Let's get more for D-Day! <S>

So, who can bring some squaddies or buddies to this one so that we can get some large attendance going?

Running on June 6 at 8:30 pm Eastern time
I can't access the events website at the moment, but didn't I read that this would also be run earlier in the day?  I seem to remember thinking I would like to participate.  I hope those or us in Europe are not being excluded again?

Flossy, I used to run the weekday ones at a UK friendly time, but I was getting only about 15 people in flight; and for me to do it, I have to run it while I'm at work.  As the attendance was so low, I stopped doing that for weekdays.  However, for any of them that run on weekends, I always pick a European-friendly time.

Any that fall on weekends will definitely run at European-friendly times.  (The schedule, a year in advance, is here:  http://ahevents.org/events/this-day-in-wwii.html )

Or, if I get a European CM to run them on weekdays, that would work, too.  I tried once, but there wan't anyone avail.  I'll ask again since the subject is fresh in mind.

Absolutely.  I fly in every one I CM (and have a blast! :) ).  "This Day" events are very easy to host because there is no policing needed and no fiddling with settings after initial setup.  Also, I am willing to set it up the evening before, so there is even less work.
