Ground war Update
« on: May 14, 2012, 08:08:52 PM »
With the advent of the Storch and the Klingon GV cloaking device(jk). Is it realevant to have the enemy spawn points visible?

Make your own gv spawn points visible to you and not the other countries, unless they take the Base then they can see them. It would make the Storch a bit more useful and make it harder for the spawn campers to pitch their tents and start roasting the marshmallows.

The GV's got the leg up with the range issues from aircraft, now lets take it to the next step and require them to actually GV fight and not just sit in a hidey hole and pop gv's as they spawn.

I got a ground update that needs to be done

If im shooting a cannon at a tree that is 3 inches thick i should blow up the tree

I know this is asking alot for the programming but having the trees and barns and stuff have damage ratings too

and if i run into a bush with a panther is should slow down not stop and then run over the bush

basically lets make the scenery realistic in some form

Nice theory, any idea how many resources would be involved in creating a persistent destructible environment?  For a sector of the game
that is basically an afterthought?  Good luck getting this one done.

that i know
it might not be possible but would be worth a look atleast

but atleast making it so that smaller trees and shrubs don't stop tanks from moving would be nice

I like this idea.  :aok

How about this improvement. From your map the Spawn arrow can be rotated on the map (Radius is fixed) a few degrees so you can pick your spawn point before pressing the NW, NE, etc Key. That way if someone has it camped you can move your spawn point 2000 yards or so to either side. Even if they find the spawn, or mark it on a map, there is still some variability around it's location. Larger than the random box now. I think that box is too small.

Trinty with that may light up the board with players wanting their perks back becasue they rolled their tank off the side of a mountain by moving the spawn selector. I watch them all the time from an 88 position spawn up top of a mountain then get too close to the edge and roll 2k down the vertical side before we shoot them.

I'd rather not post any video of what happens when tankers feel as though you're "stealing" their camping spot.

It's ugly.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

well trees and bushes you should be able just to drive thru them.  barns should stay as they are.  those 2x6's are thicker than the armor on most tanks anyway.

Glad you didn't.  All it shows is a rather large and unskilled horde trying to dictate how others play when they aren't playing the way a particular squadron thinks you should.

Random Spawn points, random Spawn points...............No friend/foe ident until D600 for gv's make it even steven.... cause random cannon jamming for the wirbs and asti's, corrected by returning to the drivers position and then back in the gun... WOO HOO! lets piss of the gver's

That would put a serious dent in the GV game.   No friend or foe till 600 yards?...do our tanks get Seeing Eye dogs to go with that?   :D

    foe till 600 yards?...   :D

I must have something set wrong! When I'm in a GV I never see enemy ident! Only friends. Do I have something set wrong?

commenting on the air to ground, ground to air ident.

I find it very one sided at this point. The GVers whined enough to have the air to ground play swayed heavily to their favor with the new settings. Aircraft not being able to see their icon until D600 unless the gv is moving then its D1000. The argument was made that flying 300knts at 3k(or 5k cant remember which) aircraft would not be able to see ground vehicles(WRONG, you can see them very well from my C130 window from 3k and 300knts, but hey). My argument is that those ground vehicles couldn't tell it they were friendly aircraft or not flying at that rate. So I propose changing the icon distance for friend foe to match the aircrafts restriction of the same.. Since the argument was for "fair" play.

Also need to address the whole camping aspect of the game. This needs to be updated so that real gvers with talent will land the kills and the ones that have no skill other than being able to find a hidey hole and pop enemy gv's before they have a chance to do anything. This is the best example of "Gaming the game" that is out there.
