AH forum at Simmers Paint Shop
« on: May 15, 2012, 07:15:04 AM »
Guys, I've posted a suggestion at SPS Feedback forum that AH be given its own forum rather than be lumped into the "OTHER SIMS" forum.  If you would value this, please go add a positive comment.   I'd like to see AH be treated as an equal among Sims like IL-2, CFS, etc.  I think AH and its skinning community warrant inclusion at this site under its own identity.  I'll post a link to thread when I get a chance.

EDIT: Here's a link to the thread: http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/forums/f4-feedback-suggestions/aces-high-forum-3663/

I'm not a fan at all of simmer's paintshop. Too IL2-centric, especially in techniques and mentality. Their paint chips are atrocious.

I say let IL2 have 'em. I use other resources.

It's very IL2-centric, for sure.  But they have other sims like CFS, Targetware, and now they have a Wings of Prey forum.   It just seems to me AH gets excluded from the wider flight simulator community (for example flight sim reviewers seem to neglect AH).

Where do you go for color swatches?

I used to take samples from half a dozen better sites than Simmer's and I found the best mix usually came from an IPMS Stockholm reference page:

http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/colorcharts.asp

Wings of Prey is IL2, by the way. Just an updated dumbed-down flight model. TW is gone. I looked at articles on Simmers and their idea of making a BMF plane was to take a white "blank" (if you're familiar with IL2 you know what I mean) and smearing grey on it -- viola, you get BMF!

I lost a lot of respect fo the site the more I looked at it. It's really more of an amateur resource. Doesn't fit AH at all, in mentality or quality, at least from what I've seen.

kinda have to agree....why go where we are not wanted.....besides it would be like hanging out with the losers in school because there were more of them, and you didn't want to feel left out. :D

I didn't get the impression we weren't wanted there.  SPS had at one time a dedicated forum for Aces High, but so few people used it they removed it when they were pruning their site.
