Battle Of Britain: The Channel battles

=============================================================

10 July–11 August: Kanalkampf, ("the Channel battles").

The Kanalkampf comprised a series of running fights over convoys in the English Channel and occasional attacks on the convoys by Stuka dive-bombers. It was launched partly because Kesselring and Sperrle were not sure about what else to do, and partly because it gave German aircrews some training and a chance to probe the British defences. In general, these battles off the coast tended to favour the Germans, whose bomber escorts massively outnumbered the convoy patrols. The need for constant patrols over the convoys put a severe strain on RAF pilots and machines, wasting fuel, engine hours and exhausting the pilots, but eventually the number of ship sinkings became so great the British Admiralty cancelled all further convoys through the Channel. However, these early combat encounters provided both sides with experience. They also gave the first indications some of the aircraft, such as the Defiant and Bf 110, were not up to the intense dog-fighting that would characterise the battle.

Looks like it's gonna be a TON of fun!
I'll be bringing along about a dozen pile-its.
My Squad Night starts at 9PM Eastern, so figure
we'll be showing up about 10-15 minutes prior to
that, if not earlier.
We'll make a determination of which side we'll be flying
based on the numbers prior to 9PM. ie: we'll try to
balance things out.
Bone's bringin' some of his studs, so I'll be counting
each of them as "2" pilots. ;)
  Best regards,

Got in for about 20 minutes and had a blast last night.  :salute and thanks to ImaDot for not slaughtering my stuka while I was afk; a great example of why I prefer to fly in the AvA instead of the MAs.

The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

I was tickling your bird to try to wake you up. Just when I decided to shoot off your landing gear :devil you came back and oiled my Hurri. I ditched in a clearing back in England and watched as my countrymen exacted revenge.

dang! had I know that I would have let you take the gear! I might have lasted longer with the better performance due to less drag.  :D

edit* it turned out ok though, I still managed to destroy 8 of the 9 targets I was aiming for.  :neener:

It was pretty late in the evening when I got on, I was just killing time waiting for the clothes washer to finish so I could move the wet clothes to the dryer before bed; but I appreciate the escort offer, raph.  :aok

Oh, and since it looks like the emil has got its hooks in you really deep, here you go http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=17945&gclid=CPbp7vazlLACFQcEnQodeSJKpw
