Would like an answer from Pyro or HiTech
« on: April 06, 2001, 12:20:00 AM »
I lost an Arado do to disconnect tonight, no big deal. But I went from at least 216 perk points to 126. To say the least I am a little curious, as I thought Aradoes were 70 perk points.

Anyone in the know have an explanation? Other than the usual wiseguys.

I lost points too due to disco. I'm somewhat sure that the host don't know the difference between a disco and a pilot doing a Alt+F4 at the first sign of trouble to save his points.

<edit> Don't have any idea about losing 100 points</edit>

If you disco with no damage you only lose 1/2 the perk value I believe.

Interesting....I didnt know this.  This is kinda bogus in my opinion because I had 2 Arado's cut off from returning back to their bases and lots of alt on them suddenly disconnect on me yesterday when their lives were in jeopardy.

If this is true and most people know that they only lose half their perkies when they disconnect without damage, I think we shall see LOTS of people Alt-F4'ing at the first sign of trouble rather than lose ALL their perkies.

I sincerely hope the 2 disconnecting Arados I was running down yesterday had true disconnects rather than dweebishly Alt-F4'ing.

On second thought....maybe the host DOES know the difference between a true disconnect and an Alt-F4...maybe you get penalized 30 points plus the loss of all perkies...hmmmmmm

NAILED!!

Dingy: It was a disconnect, not alt-f4. As a matter of fact I was not in the air that long and I don't think there were any cons in the sector. You may be right about some kind of penalty for what the server "thinks" is an intentional disconnect.
At this point I am hoping someone from HTC would shed a little light on this.

Dingy...the way HT said it, you'd lose only half the perk points if you disco and have no damage.  If you have taken even one ping, the full amount of perks are deducted.

Olgzr, I wasnt accusing you of anything, just poking some fun your way

SOB, I understood that from Lephturns post.  My only point was that a perk pilot having found himself in a position he knows he cant escape can Alt-F4, knowing he hasnt taken any damage and only lose half the perkies.

You are probably right tho, guess we cant fully penalize those that DO disconnect by accident.  But it sure would be nice to penalize those who game the system

Gee, we get porn on the clipboard, and suddenly the FDB's all have the attention span of a gnat.

What a surprise.

Quitting the game or discoing after being damaged will result in a total loss.  No damage discos are 50%.  Are you sure your starting and finishing numbers were correct?  What number was given in the last mission stat?
