Clean your computer day
« on: May 25, 2012, 10:42:51 AM »
Today is the international "clean your computer day".

Everyone should keep their computers tidy to avoid any excess heat. To show you an example I filmed cleaning my own computer - this is how a computer should look like after 2 years of use.

I don't buy some of the comments like "they just killed it with moisture in the compressed air."

If that was the case just having it in high humidity would kill it.

I just hold or pin the fan blades so they don't over rev. Of course I never let em get so bad that I have to spray that much air.

Never let one get that bad, but I came close the summer I decided to open the windows instead of running the a/c. Pretty sure the cleaning bills and PITA factor wiped out any utility savings I achieved.

I'm a smoker, and with 2 dogs and a cat they can get like that pretty quick. Especially if you dont have a carpet in the room. I blow mine out 3 or 4 times a year.
Much easier to just use the exhaust end of a shop vac.

Im surprised that thing still runs. I know when mine is due for cleaning as my machine starts to beep once the cpu starts running warmer then I want it

So you are the guy who run's liveleak?

1) The link is to youtube
2) Liveleak is almost like youtube, people can send stuff there without actually 'running it' :)
3) I was only kidding, this is not my computer in the video obviously.
