If anyone can please just stop by any memorial it doesnt need to be a big one but just the thought of doing it is enough.

To some of my good friends who didn't make it back, SFC Collins, SSG young, Cpt Tipton, SSG Vasquez, and the list goes on. You made the ultimate sacrifice, and most can never understand why you even went at all. I miss you all.

Salute

It's great to get some time off from work to have fun with family and friends...  That being said, every year I take some alone time to reflect on the true meaning of the day.  I'll admit, I get a bit misty eyed...  Aw hell, who am I kidding...  I tear up like a baby.

I am occasionally troubled by "Survivors Guilt" because of those who were wounded, died, or suffer emotional trauma. Every time I hear of a group of young G.I.s dying in combat, it chokes me up, and I get a longing feeling of regret, because I wasn't there to help. This used to really bother me, then the other day at the VA hospital, I had a nice talk with an older war vet & he said, "It never goes away! It still gets me today...It's because you were brothers in arms and would have died along side them, if necessary....You get to enjoy your wife & children & they don't....it's a feeling of loyalty, find a good place to keep that where it wont bother you."   :salute to the wisdom which comes with age.
