All good things...
« on: June 01, 2012, 10:38:00 PM »
It has been a great 10 years, but all good things must come to an end.  The bottom line is I have just lost interest in the game.  No one made me mad, I just reached my peak and even old age and treachery couldn't make me better.  I never thought I would ever lose the skills I had, once I gained them, but age is a great teacher about that as well.  I have always been extremely competitive, and perhaps that is my downfall.  At any rate, it is what it is.
To those of you who befriended me along the way, you may never know how much your friendship has meant, but it meant a lot to me.  I leave knowing I will miss you guys...even the Republicans, and the guys who can't spell.
All of the Guys at HTC who built and maintain the high standards of this game, have really shone when it comes to customer satisfaction.  This is still the best interactive historically based wargame out there, if not the best game overall.
I don't know if I will come back after a while...I just don't know.  I survived the withdrawl symptoms of staying away (night sweats, uncontrollable shaking, PTSD, and etc.), but only time will tell if I will return.
Finally, to my friends and squadmates at Duxford:  Thanks for everything fellas, you made staying as long as I did worthwhile.

Oh, I have slipped the strangling bonds of real life,
and danced the skies on pixelated wings.
Upward I've climbed and tumbled in the mirth,
and been blinded by a sun that never sets - and done a hundred things, I cannot do.
Up, up I've climbed in the slowest climbing plane ever conceived,
and been caught by planes that have no right to fly that fast.
And, while with mumbled expletives I've cursed the incoming horde,
-Put out my hand and wiped whatever the hell that is off my monitor.

With sincerest apologies to John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

TeeArr, You WILL be missed.  I have always called you "honorable" TeeArr after a stiking engagment we had years ago. That one fight long ago defined for me who you are. Honorable! I Hope life treats you well Sir! <S>

:salute TeeArr   Had good times with ya too.   As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder.  I know a couple years ago I took off about 6 months and enjoyed that and came back.  See ya soon.

Teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eee!!!! It was always fun running into you....more fun for you I think as I always seemed to find my way back to the tower somehow.  :headscratch: I wish you the best of luck and hope you'll stop in from time to time! Then, 6 months down the road when you realize that you still have the itch and decide to come back, I will be more than happy to show what you have taught me....You've taught me to say things like; "I think that was an important part, ouch, didn't I have two wings when I left?, ouch! my liver!!, HE(lp finished on range in the tower), wheeeeeeeeeeeeee," and my personal favorite.... "you kill him Qcare.....I'm about to be a smokin' hole in the ground."  :rofl :rofl :rofl    At least until you knock some of the rust off.  :neener:

Tee,

Brother, you are way up there on my list of great experiences in Aces High.  Indeed flying with you has been a priviledge.  I only hope that one day you find that cherry Triumph GT6 and do a bang up restoration, and give your ole buddy ChiLLi a ring so, I could drive halfway cross country to be your copilot for her first post restored run.

I cannot say bye, only "see you later," to a real class act TeeArr  :salute

Tee,
I wish you the best in all your endeavors to come. You've
always been a gentleman in AH and one of my favorite folks.
You'll be missed.
To me, you'll always be the Hurricane II stud of AH. To this
day, whenever I see one land a few pelts you immediately
come to mind.
Be well, and may The Emperor's gonads never rest upon your chin!

Best regards,
    Odd
