Bell P-63 Kingcobra
« on: June 05, 2012, 12:15:46 PM »
I've searched and it seems this plane has been wished for a lot, but nothing recently.

WideWing has given his praise for it, and it meets all three minimum requirements to be included in the game. I'd like to see some progress on this

(after the B-26 gets updated  :noid )

Soviet input resulted in moving the main cannon forward, favorably changing the center of gravity, and increasing its ammo load from 30 to 58 rounds for the A-9 variant. The P-63 had an impressive roll rate, besting the P-47, P-40, N1K2 and P-51 with a rate of 110° per second at 275 mph (443 km/h)

Yep + 1 from me for the Bell P-63 Kingcobra

Ain't been a 'cobra thread yet that I haven't added a big +1! too.

But I wouldn't be disappointed if HTC completed updates to the rest of the a/c first.

I'm all for the King Cobra, or any other Soviet Fighter for that matter  :neener:

He knows that.  The point is that it was only used by the Soviets, thus only Soviet skins would be in the game.

What information is known about the P-63? I really never researched it at all.

From what has been posted here, it would out run La-7s, turn with A6Ms and climb, at low alts, with the Spitfire Mk XIV.

OK, my 'computer programming must be easy' comment.

Would it not be super easy to create this bird? We have the P-39, create new skins, likely a couple changes to the fender and bumpers, amp up the engine, climb rate, etc and voila!

Or is it not that easy?

Boo

PS What needs to change with the B-26?

The P-63 looks like a P-39, but in fact was a completely different airplane that does not share any parts with the P-39.  In other words it would need a completely new 3D model.
