Some of us who like you have heavy snow winters, have beaters we drive around for short jaunts.
Grocery Store etc.  I take care of it mechanically to ensure I don/t have to drive the R/T.

Only problem is I can't drive a beater, I travel 100-600km distances in -32c and a car failure can mean agonizing death in the middle of some woods. :)

Ripley... 100-600 km in a brand new 911 on heavy snow? you my friend, have balls. Not because your driving it in snow, but be cause of the distance in snow. I wouldnt take the car out if it was anything less than sunny and warm, thats just me, have really lived a wealthy life so I would treat it like a newborn baby.

I'm content with my Subaru Impreza.

Who said it's brand new? :)

I figured a Carrera 4 should handle regular snow with studded tires. I mean people drive old school VW Beetles on snow too and they don't even have proper heaters.

Brand new Porshe 911 costs over 180.000 euros here in Finland(MrRipley lives here too). Gives you some perspective...  New Boxter S is around 97.000 euros.  :cry

Weighty arses give you traction. You don't have to be rich to buy a 911 either, the car has been made for 46 years. There is a huge 'dip zone' in the prices between the 'classics' and the 'recently made and look at me' models.

There surely is better bang for the bucks, and haters will be quick to throw that in your face. But who cares, get the thing and enjoy ... you live only once. :old:  Before you hit the trigger please take a at the new Boxer S. It's been rethought taking in consideration customer complaints, ride/performances/quality/fun factor have been significantly improved and it's a fraction of the cost of the 911.

[suckers bet]Bet you $20 I'll see at least 3 on my drive home.[/suckers bet]

I have a friend with a one-off 911. All carbon fiber body. Lots of handling goodies and runs like a scalded cat.

If he brings it to a meet the porsche guys are usually all over it. lol

I'm reminded of a certain Super Troopers scene.

What's hilarious is this guy --->  goes PERFECTLY to the beat. xD
