Reposting TT's question - I think it's worth debating and figure the question may have been lost with the heading.

I can understand where TT is coming from (although not without time limit). The numbers, especially in the Asia/Pacific timezone, are quite low and if you switch sides to balance play, you're ok for a while but then as people log on and off the balance is outa whack again and you can't switch back...
People have their loyalties, but I think the time limit must also play a part in their decision to switch sides for balanced play. I can understand the reason why it's turned on also and I agree...I merely point out the other side of the coin (or world in this case).

I agree to less of a time limit. I am off 48hrs at a time and when I log on in the day time there is 1 or 2 Knights online vs 18-20 total rooks and bishops all fighting far away from us. If I switch sides and a squaddie shows up then I am an hour wait till I can fly with them. 15 minutes maybe?
I can understand the anti spy but this can be accomplished with a simple radio call from one person to another anyway. Just MHO

The biggest problem with lowering the time limit is the scorepotatos who jump from side to side like lemmings off the cliffs. I say make it longer to curtail any thoughts of doing this.I would like to see an invulnerability factor for the sides bases w/o a certain # of players online,every night it seems Knights have to start with limited fields because of the overnight captures of undefended bases,it`s no wonder our numbers stay low when we have to deal with limited bases to fly from all the time.

Allowing players to switch quickly between teams, from my experience, can cause problems.

Some call it "Gaming the Game", others call it "Dweebery", and still others call it "Damnable and Downright Cheating".

For 90% of the time and for 90% of the people, having no time limit or a very short one would work out just fine. But, IMO the current time limit PREVENTS more problems than it creates.

BTW, players in the arena one night were polled by HTC. They were asked, "What a good time limit for switching teams might be?". The time limit was decided to be 12 hours. This was decided by the players for the players, and it was good. (Jedi, where art thou?).

I say "Leave it alone, it works fine and lasts a long time!"

an example. I could not find a fight the other night as a rook. Nits and bish were haveing at it. I switched to bish. Flew one sorti. nits go after rooks. Im looking at a vary long flight to get to a fight. Went an watched tv.

I suggested this just until we get more players. About 20 online at the time. A two sided war would have worked to. 30 bucks is a lot of money to set and look at a map. in the tower or in a plane for a long time.

It's late so I'll keep this short.

One of the main reasons for the time limits was to prevent players from jumping back and forward to the enemy side, look at the radar, listen to the buff pilots and then jump back and bounce the bombers en route to a target or slap down a C47 in field defence.

No time limits can also mean jumping back and forth to see what the enemy radar situation is like. Wouldn't you like to know if their radar is down without having to fly all the way over there and look?

Anything less than an hour will mean buff missions as in jepardy because that's about how long an organised attack takes to complete.

I'm new to AH but I came from a flight sim where you could switch sides like the Facisti, anytime you wanted to. When I came to AH a couple of times I got caught on the other side of some m8s I was with because I didn't pay attention but I soon learned. Whatever the reason for the 12 hr. time limit it simulates the real world and I like it. Any changes will only water down a sim that has a lot of promise.
