Sooo...Its more like calling Lusche a 'Germ'?

More like Jerry or Kraut, neither of which are appropriate.  Jap I suspect is more often used as an abbreviation, because I doubt many realize that it has become a derogatory term.
Those terms when used as slang, are not appropriate to use to address someone of their respective nationality.

Kamikaze is not derogatory, at least by itself in a sentence.  The problem lies in how callously many treat the term.  In historical reference if a Japanese pilot intentionally crashed into the enemy in order to destroy himself and his adversary he is just that. (The Japanese did not use this term, though)  That's appropriate.
Asking in the wishlists to be able to become a kamikaze is totally inappropriate because of how lightly that concept is obviously being taken.  We're cartoon pilots dying doesn't hurt.  This is what i suspect you want a ban for, but it is not the word that's the problem, it is the childish and frivolous way that it seems to come up over and over "specifically" in the wishlist.

Yeah but nobody is calling a modern day Japanese or German a "Jap" or a "Nazi". Even most German pilots, soldiers, and especially sailors, in WW2 werent "Nazis". They were just kids with no option when the letter came. All Japanese at the time were indoctrinated into a strict, racist military nation family starting at birth. Were playing a game in a Historical context anyways and when its used its used in WW2 vernacular, and not even very often. Personally I'd get tired of always having to hit all the keys all the time J-A-P-A-N-E-S-E.

Considering the worldwide slaughter that happened at the time it seems kinda hypocritical. You can call us "Ameri's" any time you want. We werent exactly a perfect nation thruout history either and nobody is talking about modern time.

I suppose it is a matter of context and perspective.

If I refer to the "Jap" planes in the game, it is an abbreviation.

If I have a conversation with my grandfather (who served on a tanker in WWII), the word "Jap" (when he uses it)  has an entirely different meaning...  :o

ok lets flip it,  your japanese can't read hardly any English,

stumble into a conversation in game where you recognise blah blah  jap this  blah blah jap that.   What are these horrible american dogs saying? $$%£$

these players are pretty important to keep the arena ticking over off hours whilst you lot are fast asleep and it is a simple request to not un-intentionally alienate more subscribers!!!

JP = fine!

Was there an official complaint Bruv or is this just a current crusade type thing? Cause it sounds pretty frivolous to me, and apparently everyone else.

you could call it a crusade,  I just think off hours whilst the arena changes have helped it doesn't do any harm to encourage growth in other parts of the world.   With no other language support it must be extremely difficult for any sort of help / training and when the locals can't even refrain from using 3 letters its more about common decency than anything else.

Linguistically I dont see how its any different from Brit, and I'll carry on using the shortened forms of both, respectfully.

campaigns to stop the usage of words like this usually come down to a desire from the subjects not to be discussed at all. if someone wants to self-censor or engage in some kind of cultural denial thats fine, just dont expect me to sign up for it too :)

Let me ask you something. If the word Limey really offender you, as the "N" words offends many in the world, would changing the alowable spelling to "Lim", or "Li", really make a difference?

I can think of 100 things, offhand without even thinking, about what would encourage growth in this game and almost every one of them includes airframes, graphics, or gameplay. Were it my business I'd throw in advertisement into the mix. But theres one thing I know for sure and thats changing the term "Jap" to "JP" wouldnt get one new Japanese player.

On a positive note however your point is not quite as irrelevant as banning the word "kamakazi" in the forums. At least your taking a moral stand. A silly one, but even silly ones show character.
