It was the neighbours teenage daughter. It's her birthday, she's 18 and they are having a barbeque on Sunday night. She apologises in advance and hands us two bottles of wine and some sweets (candy) for our boys.
We tell her it's no problem and we laugh because we're not such old fogies that we'll complain and turn out the cops. It will be quite a party if even the neighbours deserve two bottles of wine!
It does give me a warm feeling about the younger generation, who are often derided as selfish. That has not been my experience generally.
Now I do think her parents have an input, her Dad's English and he does fit the cliche of the polite Englishman but it does give a warm feeling.
But sometimes us old gits don't give the younger generation the credit.
