Battlefield Evolution Mk.III
« on: June 13, 2012, 11:04:46 AM »
Alright so I'm completely ditching the idea designating sides  :cry but on to more important things.
The whole point of this is to make early war aircraft that arn't used very much more useful.
So to review how this would work is one week equals one year of the war SO:
any aircraft available before 1940 could be used in the first week, then the aircraft availabel in 1940 would be added week to ect.
Then the last weekend a bunch of experimental/post war fighters would be added (Like P-59s, MiG-9s, Vampires, ect.) just to make things interesting....

rolling planesets never work. people fly what they want to fly and don't like it when someone tells them they can't. look at all the whines about eny since it was implemented. if you want limited aircraft to choose from, go to the ava, sign up with a squad to fly fso, or sign up for a scenario.

You don't think giving the early war aircraft a chance would be a good Idea???
Also being able to have jet on jet would also a bad thing???

The problem is you would be forcing such a setup in the LW main arena, and the majority don't want that.

While there is no other arena that consistently has the same population, like Gyrene said we in AvA run a variety of setups that include some with only early war planes and we do sometimes run jet against jet.

It is the only arena I fly in, although I would fly special events if my work schedule allowed it.

Your best bet is to branch out if you are looking for something different than the MA.

Tuesdays are the best night for AvA right now.

YOU can fly any plane YOU want. If YOU want to fly a P40 all the time YOU can do it. It may take YOU a while to get a kill, but YOU will still be flying YOUR P40. On the other hand I don't want to fly a P40 and much prefer to fly the P51.... so I don't play for a few weeks until it becomes available?

YOU already have the option to fly those planes that don't get flown often, so fly them. If your worried that they feel bad being neglected in the hangers, don't worry about they are use to it. The point is your never going to get any where trying to TAKE things away from people.

I'm not saying "do away with all arenas except for this"
This is more intended to replace the early and mid war arenas which, in my experiance, is hardly ever used in large numbers

A rolling plane set will not work in those arenas as well.  As Fugi pointed out, people will most likely avoid those arenas that force them to fly a plane they don't want to fly or deny them access to the plane they wish to fly.

why do people insist on "fixing" EW and MW arenas? They are what they are due to the majority of folk liking to be where "everyone else is". It will never change. It is just like AvA arena. No matter what they do they will never get the numbers a LW does. Sure they get surges now and them, but it just doesn't continue, most likely because the plane set is too restrictive.

I think a better use of the EW and MW arena's would be as ETO and PTO arena's

All that would accomplish is giving us a MA with less aircraft.

This community is not as concerned with country specific match ups and WW2 time lines.

We do sometimes got decent population in AvA, and SEA has success with special events but there is less of a 24/7 market.

Even today with a very old game, if you check out IL2/hyperlobby, at any given time you will find multiple arenas/servers that have restricted, AvA type plane sets that have people playing in them.

AH just doesn't have the same market appeal.
