I'm fine for now, I think, with the slider 1/4 inch from 4 miles.  If the film viewer crashes again on me, I'll let you know.  Maybe others can try this and see if it helps them too.

That doesn't work for me.  All the films from today work but previous films are still crashing.  Could be some allergic reaction to a certain map.

I do not have enough information to start to understand why it would effect your computer and not any of ours.

I emailed you the dxdiag, graphics settings, and screenshots yesterday.  Hope it helps.  Like I said, i seem to have found a solution for now by setting the ground detail range slider to about 3.7 miles or so and have set all my other graphics options back to like I normally play.  No problems so far.

Weird, moving the Ground Detail Range down from 4 miles to 2 lets me view films I previously couldn't. Though head movement while viewing the film is very jerky at times.

Same here on using number pad to look around.

Just got the new version loaded up. Tested the film viewer. What films I watched (and some were ones I couldn't for more than a few seconds before) will now play properly all the way through. Thanks for the fix.

We really did not do anything.  We have no idea why some peoples computers were crashing and others were not.  Never could duplicate it with the films from anyone.

The only thing I noticed that remained from the last version in the viewer was the flickering numbers in the time display when you loaded a film. That's still happening. That never happened IIRC before the crashing stuff started for me the last version or so. I was able to watch one of my FSO films that I wasn't able to watch for more than about 20 seconds before all the way through. It got late so I didn't get a chance to check more. Was doing battle with a new router. I won and went to bed.

The films that crashed before still crash.  Every once in a while, there is one that just won't run for whatever reason.  The recent problem was strange because almost every film from a 2 or 3 day period crashed.  Weird, because of the number of films crashing and because of the small number that didn't.

At least things are working fine right now (knock on wood).

We have never been able to duplicate any of the film crashes form the films people have sent us.  We suspect it may be some type of resource issue, but we can only guess, at the moment.
