squad side
« on: June 27, 2012, 11:23:11 PM »
Question to the CM's:

I know we have several new faces in charge so to speak, and with that sometimes comes small shifts in the how the direction of the FSO can run.

Squads have always had their preference to a given side at scenario sign up and I know the CM's honor those requests as best they can as long as the sides stay balanced.  But in times gone past squads who flew for the same side more than about 3 scenario's were often shifted to the opposite side for a scenario regardless of their request.  Or at least thats how it looked to me.  And I know we have had conversations on this topic from time to time.

My squad the 325th VFG is of course a ALLIED squad by nature but we do try to shift to the AXIS side ever so often to honor the above intent (wont call it a rule).  I am wondering if the CM community is still of this mind set or has it changed?

If everyone is getting the side that they like and the staff has adequate numbers, I would say why switch a squad up? I mean, ideally, wouldnt it be best if everyone was able to get their preferance and the CM's have good numbers, thats what matters.

We try and divide it up as best we can but the ratio split takes precedence. We can't have a lopsided setup based on what squad preferences are. That being said there has been no change to the way that we assign squads in FSO that I am aware.

Not really, what we do is we look and see if we can fill up the two sides first with those that made requests to a specific side (Allied and Axis) and then we fill in with the squads that made no preference. After that...if the sides are not balanced as per the design we have to make changes. We do look and see if a squad has a history of not getting the side they want and try to be fair. Its very difficult to juggle all that but we do our best. Typically but not always we have more squads ask for Allied than we have room for and some usually have to go Axis. Thats not hard and fast but thats the overall trend right now.

If for example a squad asked for Allied and got it in the last 3 or 4 setups and I am looking for a squad to switch to Axis? well, yes, they might be in the running to be moved compared to a squad that asked for Allied 3 or 4 times and has been Axis 3 times in a row. Fair is fair yes? As I said with squads being different sizes and setups with different ratios its a tight fit to get everybodys request but we do try. We take into account if they are a PACIFIC or ETO historic squad, historic ride, ect.
