That's the nearest man has ever come to pure flying. But I'll bet it's only done on the calmest of calm days. One hint of whiff of a hint of up or downdraft and splat as Jeb Corless nearly ended up.

Especially against mountains like that because once the wind hits the rock face it goes straight up and creates what us glider pilots call ridge lift. Using ridge lift you can get up over 18000 feet

I didn't watch this, because I have a bad mo-jo feeling about the ending.  Like when someone falls down hard on pavement, I cringe.
I would love (and I mean love) to try a flight in an ultralight or maybe hang glider. 
Have a few issues here.  I'm terrified of heights, but am intrigued with flight.

That's just friggin nuts.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB
