Dayton is more historical and what appears to be an AH "landmark" to many people over the past years.

Actually, there are many states that have historical places to visit for an AH gathering. The reason the "official" gathering I started went to Dayton is because SHawk had a bigger place then I did. I could not continue it at my house where it all began over six years ago since we multiplied every year. We grew the gathering so big that it doubled in size each year 18 at my house, about 30 at SHawk's house the first year then close to 70 the following year. We needed a bigger place and it happened to be in Dayton since SHawk had a friend who owned a campground which was good because by the time we got to the campground we had over 100 players and their families. What great times!!

The West Coast gathering was great.

Would be nice to have a traveling gathering but, the costs to the players would be too much and those with families of young ones would most likely have to take vacation time away from them and it would not work so well.

Looks like SHawk has carried on the Ohio tradition and now that I moved to the West Coast I started one here too. AH players seem to meet all over including the conventions HTC has had.

Trip down memory lane ...

My little guy is three and a half now and he keeps me busier then I have ever been in my life. He has to be somewhere almost everyday of the week! I am hoping a player on the West Coast starts a new tradition since my time is needed elsewhere.

Was really great to meet so many players over the years!

I'm saying more so than going to Michigan. Birthplace of Wright brothers, Airshow, WPAFB, Air Force Museum, etc. Anyone can party wherever they want but to have TONS of eye candy, tremendous amounts of history, and a tour from past to present on hand while in Dayton seems a bit more "historical" then a 'this happened here on this date' sort of thing. Just my $0.02
