Anybody ever heard of this site? I was looking to buy a Radeon 6850 single slot on Newegg when it suddenly went out of stock. Looked around the net and I found this.

Is this a trustworthy site?

Newegg has the 6850 for $135, or $54 less than these "wicked" guys I never heard of before.  <shrug>

Not the single slot though. Which is at $200.

not sure but if it could be built with a single slot then why build one that has 2 slots?  it's not like people like to waste a slot, perhaps there's a difference.

It was originally a two slot card. Two companies, AFOX and PowerColor basically found a way to make the fan smaller but keep the performance. From the reviews I've read, the fan isn't that loud either. The problem is that my heatsink is huge and leaves about 1.5" of space for the GPU (width). I bought a 6870 before but could just barely get it to fit, it was lierally side by side with the heatsink. But that was a double slot card, and from my research, 6850 is currently the fastest single slot available.

where is your cpu socket located? single slot or double slot, the card should fit into the #1 pci-e x16 slot the same way.

The heatsink extends all the way to where the battery is. Length isn't a problem, it's just the width. It has to be under 1.5" inch if I want to leave some space between the card and heatsink. Practically all double slot GPU I've looked at are 1.5" or bigger.

ah poop, a dell micro atx mobo. i'm guessing there isn't any space in the case to put a good aftermarket cpu cooler on the thing. should just replace the system but...that takes money.

I was looking into that as well, searching for good small heatsinks, it's a LGA 775 slot. Though my budget would then force me to pick a lesser GPU. I'd figured a single slot 6850 would be the best option.

titanic, if I was you I would put up with that system for as long as I could and save money to build my own.  I wouldnt add anything to it as it would be a waste of money in the long run.

You're telling me. 

titanic, if I was you I would put up with that system for as long as I could and save money to build my own.  I wouldnt add anything to it as it would be a waste of money in the long run.

I'm slowly doing that. In the future, (far future, I plan on re using parts from this current Dell. I currently replaced the PSU (now a 750W Corsair), the HDD (a Samsung 1TB), the RAM (Corsair 2x2GB), and all that's left is the video card. Once I have enough money, I'm taking all these parts out and putting it with a new motherboard, case, and anything else I'm missing.

Just out of curiosity: How is the CPU heatsink attached to the motherboard? All versions I've seen so far have holes in the corners, the mobo in the picture doesn't have. Just checked and there doesn't seem decent clamp grips on the socket either.

Since your hardware seems to be quite decent except for the mobo, have you thought of getting a second hand socket 775 board and perhaps a cheap used standard case? Ebay and such seem to have them for pocket money, even some fellow cartoon pilot in your neighbourhood may have one lying around.

there's 4 big holes about 1/2 inch around the cpu.  it looks just like the one I had on my gateway.  a big useless heatsink with no fan.

When I got the 6870, I experimented a little and took the heatsink out. The case fan sky rocketed and it was like a washing machine. Unbelievably loud. And there is a fan in my heatsink though.

And yes, the 4 holes around the CPU is where the heatsink goes. Although it extends all the way out to where the battery is and just past the z-clip heat sink is.
