Vox transmission lockout
« on: July 11, 2012, 03:26:35 PM »
When someone is transmitting on either the range or tunable channels, no one else should be able to transmit. The first person to key up should be the only one able to talk as long as he/she is transmitting on that particular channel. Its annoying having 6 people trying to talk at once or not being able to receive instructions at critical times.

From what I've seen and from what's been explained on the board, I thought the way it works is it transmits the voice messages in the order they get to the system, pretty much exactly like what you are asking for here.

If 6 people key their mike to say something on range while someone else is talking on range, it sends their messages in the order they're received, doesn't it?

Now, are you talking about making it do that regardless of what channel is transmitting, so that if someone on range says something and someone on vox says something at the same time, it queues them like it does one channel?  I think I've seen tuned vox and range vox stepping on one another.  If so, that would be a worthwhile addition.

Or to have someone with a stuck key (or someone on purpose to be a dink) continually broadcast nothing and keep everyone else from communicating.

Just instruct people to be brief when in battle...or move to a different channel. Or have HTC grant the multiple wishes to be able to de-tune Range Vox.

I believe he means that only. One person can actually transmit at a time. Ie only one person can "press the button" at a time.
+1!!

You all do realize that it is a time limit that stops the transmission, and not some one else pushing the button?

All too often I'll start talking for about 2 seconds and then someone on the channel cuts me off. Is this simply a lag issue on my end? It's like coming to a 4-way stop and having multiple people false-starting, annoying you to the point you just have to motion for the other person to go ahead. My wish is for a "traffic light", meaning when one person is transmitting, everyone else is essentially stopped on red (atleast until the time limit is up).

just keep talking if it's important, just because you hear someone else doesn't mean you've been "cut off". Your message will make it through.. You'll notice you never hear two people at once, they come thru one at a time. your important message will go thru as well.

nevetheless, usually too many people talking.. I agree there.

The other person does NOT cut you off, just keep talking, while you are hearing some one different, everyone else is hearing your, and then will hear the other persons message in it's entirety after your message is finished.

Also not there is a time limit, I forget if it is 5 or 10 secs, that you can speak, after which your transmission has been stopped.

Edit:  Oh!  You're talking about the amount of time you can speak per transmission.  Pretty sure it's 5.
