For those that know....
« on: July 15, 2012, 01:41:31 PM »
I only buy Intel based products unless an AMD fan can make a valid point besides price....ie this will make AH scream as that is all I really play.

I want a MB / Processor combo, correct memory and a dual pci e card set up at a reasonable cost.  No case or storage I have that.

The reason I am asking for help is that I have not built any computers since P4's were the new thing.  I do not know what combos and memory speeds work with which whatchamacallits.....

Thanks in advance.

Dual card is for the "look" of the custom rack I'm building for this new PC.

Also.... anyone know if extension cables are available for memory slots,pci-e and pci?  Just want to know if you can "relocate" items to free up space?

This is a mock up of what I want to do (in different materials)......maybe more if I could figure out a way to move things off the board and into more visible areas...

ToeTag,

Were you looking at some of those articles in Gizmag about custom wood cases and cardboard cases?

http://new.gimcomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=98_100_276&products_id=1674

Is this decent (more than I need for AH) I don't think I would need much more.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162094

X2

get a processor that ends with a k, those are unlocked and can be overclocked.  even if you arent planning to oc the 20 dollar difference more than makes it in performance at stock speeds.

and the 2 video cards you are planning to get be carefull those are low end.  a good video card will cost you around 250 bucks and it will be better than those 2.

OK, so what 200 ish dollar video cards can I buy that will make this game work well?  I am supposing that these low end cards will work.  However if a HTC staff could maybe shed some light on the next 5 years or so that would be nice.   :D

This is more art than function.  But well functioning art would be great.

560Ti?

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

I've had good luck with the ATi 6870.  Good price point, quality performance.

Check this out.... Toms hardware releases a revised list every month of the best video cards for the money. I have been running a Radeon 7850 for a couple months now and I am extremely happy with it. They dropped the price to around 250, and the best part about them is they consume a lot less power than other cards while still being more than a match for anything in its price range. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107.html
