well the P-51D-20-NA 'Annecy' was active during the war, and despite being a recce P51D I think it fits the criteria to make a skin for aces high. I've asked the autor of the drawning if I could use his work to create a skin  :aok

I obtained the agreement to create the skin based on the following drawning

The up side seems to be Aluminium finish...is the lower side and the wings gray paint?

Even though it carried guns, was it a combat plane? No. Did it ever fire those guns? Did it ever get kills? I'm guessing no.

Just because it had rare French markings doesn't make it worth putting on a skin in-game. It wasn't a French fighter, they didn't field any as frontline units, from what I recall.

It's not a good fit for our P-51 in-game.

EDIT: Re-reading the link you gave, they were only operational for a very short time in 1945 and their sole contribution to the war was taking picture. I know you like French aircraft markings, but honestly, you have to admit this is a poor skin to put on our planes in-game.

"Immediatly after the crossing, the Mustangs of the Savoie group were engaged in so-called "army corps reconnaissance missions", which, because of the very low overcast and necessity to fly very low, turned out to be very dangerous. On one such mission, on April 17, Lt. Sainflou and Lt. Delgue were jumped by a dozen Bf 109s. Lt. Sainflou narrowly escaped by diving at full military power towards the ground, but Lt. Delègue was never seen again. Luckily, Lt. Labadie returned to the group on April 23, having escaped from a prisoner convoy."

There you go seems to be enough. Also they suffered damage from flak several times. Seems like combat.

+1 for french mustangs

A lot of things were combat. Driving ambulances was combat. Flying C-47s was combat. No denying they got shot AT, but did they even carry full guns and ammo? Did they ever shoot any of them? No kills, no nothing. For the very short couple months they served before the end of the war, they are very much a footnote.

Noir, the pink fighter-recon skins on the spits served almost the entire war. I don't have the specifics because I didn't research and skin them, but there's a far greater chance they fired their guns in anger. These P-51s literally operated 2-3 months and that's it. Their major contribution to the war was helping ground troops not get surrounded by spotting enemy movements with their photos. They got a commendation from a general they helped, but .... honestly?

You really can't compare it to a frontline fighter unit. It's not even close.
