With the 2.28 game release the target command has been updated with 2 additional parameters. You can enable this target offline and online.
.Target Range Heading Pitch1. -
Range: I've tested range from 1 to 5000 yards in aircraft. To 30000 yards in a shore battery and can see it on Full Zoom. The range is a fixed distance when your aircraft, vehical or boat is moving
2. -
Heading: Same as your compass heading numbers (1 - 360).
N = 360
E = 90
S = 180
W = 270
3. -
Pitch: Pitch is your compass heading numbers (1 - 360) but, rotating the target in a vertical circle intersecting your setting for
(Heading) . No matter what Heading you place the target on, the Pitch values (1 - 360) stay the same.
Pitch Examples:Pitch = 15 will raise the target to a 15 degree angle up in front of your aircraft, GV or manned gun position.
Pitch = 90 will raise the target directly above your head.
Pitch = 270 will place the target flat under your aircraft. Remember to make range short of your altitiude.
Pitch = 345 will place the target 15 degrees lower than the nose of your aircraft or tank sitting on a mountain top.
What will this do for you.
1. You can be offline in a bomber auto leveled. Jump in the top turret. Place the target 1000 yards out from your right wing up at 15 degrees to see how much lead and elevation you need in your gunsight.
2. You can man a 37mm ack and find out how much aim is needed at 2000 yards with the target 15 - 30 degrees or about 500-1000 feet alt.
3. You can place the target 3000 out from your tank and knowing each ring is 10 feet wide finaly see how that distance and width matches up to your range marks and width marks in the optics.
4. By setting the target to (.target 2000 360 358). I was able to test the BK5 from auto level and determine at 2000 yards the 50mm round impacts 25Mil low on a 100Mil gunsight. Now you can make your own range ladder gunsight for the B25H out to about 5k for long range shooting at carriers. In real life the B25H T13E1 75mm cannon had an effective air to ground range of 4k.
2000 - 2000 yards in front of my aircraft.
360 - North
358 - 2 degree low
