hi rez pack keeps downloading

Was/is a bug. Just manually download the hires pack and you'll be fine.

thanks I did that just before coming back here
but now it shuts down hard I get the "restarting for the patch install"....sigh
these things usually work themselves out

Same issue, this happens every time I log into aces, and log out of aces.

From my reply in another thread:

I let the auto-downloader download the hires texture pack. When it finished, I stayed and played a while. Then I quit and re-started the game so the hires textures would be active. Then I'd get dumped to Desktop within 20 seconds of entering any arena. In looking at my main AH folder, I see "HRP2270TO2280.EXE" with file size of around 10Mb and dated yesterday. I also see "hirestex.res" sized 166Mb dated 1/25/12. I renamed both, and manually downloaded the hirestex pack from the HTC website. Installed it (size around 175Mb dated 7/10/12) and everything works again...no dump to Desktop, and I was able to play around and fly and stuff.

When you restart the game, does the installer fire off?

I understand you get that message, but when you restart the game, does the installer run or does the game just come back up without running the installer?

Hey Pyro,

Happening here as well, the installer does not run and the game just starts back-up.  I've loaded the hi-res pack outside of the game to see if that would stop the auto download in-game, but it did not.

Sperky, can you go into your Aces High folder and look for the file hirestex.res.  Right click on it and go to properties.  What is the date of the file?

Wow...  1.25.12       

Downloaded again and the date is 7.10.12, will try in game quick and report back...

***update- no auto-download of hi res pack.  However, each time I log out (4 times to test) a dialog box appears and indicates that a AH will shut down to load a new patch. Patch on opening screen indicates 2.28 patch 3***

Sperky, look in your Aces High folder again for a file called patches.txt.  Open it up with notepad and see what lines are in there.  After you do that, you can go ahead and delete the file and it won't give  you that prompt any more.

We're not talking about patches, we're talking about the hires file downloader.  It has nothing to do with what you posted.
