8th AF Mission in Axis Vs Allied Arena
« on: July 25, 2012, 06:02:43 AM »
Due to the current server crashes in Late War Arena, the AvA staff has graciously offered to host the 8th Air Force vs Luftwaffe Missions in their arena.

To the AvA staff :  :salute

What this means is that we get to use the Battle of Britian map for the high altitude bombing mission!!!!

This was done very quickly so the mission will be very simple.

The 8th Air Force will strike A78 and it's town.

Stampf, you're list has been granted.  Luftwaffe defenders should start coordinating with Stampf to be in proper positioning for attacking the buffs.  My only request is to hold off from crossing the English Channel until 30 minutes after buffs liftoff.  After that, LW has free will to roam all skies.

8th AF Mission will liftoff at 9PM EST/ 8PM CST Thursday 26 July 12

Tell all your friends, squaddies and enemies to be there.

 :salute

We will need some players to be in Late war arena on all countries getting the word out about the big brawl.  Maybe a couple to head over to Midwar and Early War also.

Excellent idea here.  Big <S> to Kuya and the AvA staff.

Let's bring some hardcore action to the AvA arena on Thursday Nights.  8th AF vrs. Luftwaffe! on the BoB map.  The Luftwaffe pilots will have the choice of the following fine Irons to intercept with:

Bf109G-14
Bf109K-4
Bf110G-2
Bf410
Fw190A-8
Fw190D-9
FwTa152

Be pretty cool to pack the arena and really put up a show.  A couple hours of good time flying with a whole bunch of guys splitting into two teams and slugging it out.  JG11 will be there, and everyone is welcome to wing up with us.  Bring your squads, friends, and cocktail of choice.  You will have to leave the spits and La's for a couple hours though.

Be sexy.  FLY LUFTWAFFE!

The AvA staff has expressed an interest in hosting the event there.  Like Stampf said, bring all the people you know and draft your friends and relatives.

The Me-410 was removed from front line duty and relegated to high altitude reconnaissance from the Summer of 1944 onward...

So, they would not have participated in "Der Grosse Schlag" in November of 1944, correct?

Would not every asset be thrown against incoming Bombers to Germany? Including an armed recon wing upon finding the bombersthey would not just RTB.

The 410s were removed from the Defense of The Reich because they were getting slaughtered, in favor of single engine fighters.

Planes in the high altitude reconnaissance role tend to be either lightly armed or completely unarmed.

I have no idea whether or not the actual ~500 plane sortie that took place included Hornets or not, but they were definitely removed from the buff hunting gig Summer of '44 due to losses to escorting fighters.

For that matter, Bf-110's ceased being employed against escorted formations in the Spring of 1944.
