F4U perked

Why are the F4UC's and F4U-4's perked when they only have one (1) internal fuel tank?

1C becomes a HOing machine and will outfly roughly half of the planeset.

-4 is perked because it outflies every prop plane in the game (under 10K).

You forget that both have drop tanks and range is greatly increased if you reduce RPM.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

What does having only one fuel tank have to do with being perked or not?  That is based on the aircraft's capability and/or impact on the game.

It has nothing to do with the fuel tank. The -4 has four (4) blades in its prop and the -C has four (4) barrels in its wings. The tempest has both so it is perked higher.
Mosquito VI - twice the spitfire, four times the ENY.

 :rofl :rofl

As for what Karnak said is correct, they are perked for a reason as they have a very high capability/impact on the game. The Dash 4 is one of the finest aircraft in game, quite easily can catch most planes running, and out turn most planes.
When you look at the P51D vs Dash 4 on paper, the Dash4 is three times more capable to handle any situation or role in game where a P51D might not be as successful.
Chog simply is a 4 cannon monster, while not as fast as a Dash 4, it carries 924 rounds of 20mm which gives it tremendous firepower as well as capability, as for a fighter it can man handle most planes in the game if flown correctly.

The F4U-4 may very well be the most Dominant overall fighter in the game. I has at least one significant advantage against everything it may encounter. "posted at the same time as Butcher". Its actually a steal at its perk price, capabilties-wise.

Perk price is probably because it has 6x 50 cals which is rather good against fighters, where  Tempest has 4x 20mm's.

If we had a 4x 20mm version of the Dash 4, I wouldn't be surprised if it would be perked same as a tempest.

That version was post war though, so....

Overally speaking, the -4 is a far better fighter aircraft than the Tempest (even if its a bit slower under 10k)
The -4 is lightening fast at high altitude - not if its too slow down low -, climbs like a monkey, turns very well, can carry ords if needed, can fly for ages with reduced rpm, the quad 20s with the c-hogs ammo load...
Definiately would be perked, at least as high as a tempest. Pure luck it was post-war.

The c-hog scourge ended when the perk system went into full effect in tour 16, May 2001.  :salute

Because nobody would fly anything from a carrier but either a -1C or a -4 if they were unperked.

Because the -1C would become damn near the only ground-attack plane used in the game.

And because the -4 would COMPLETELY dominate everything in the game except for the 262, 163, and Tempest. The only unperked planes I can think of that would offer the -4 any real competition are the 109K and La-7 at low-med alt, and the P-47's, Spit 14, and Ta-152 at high alt.

Shut up Karnak, I'm tired  :P.

Barely. Its like what, about 8 perks usually (at least for knits)? Depending on who you are, thats either pocket change, or the pocket change from a single sortie.

Either way, my point stands: Theres only like 2 non-perk aircraft that can match it for preformance (but not handling characteristics) at low-med altitudes, and only a couple (unless you count all those different models of P-47) that can match it at high altitude.

Psst.
The 4-hog completely owns the k4 at any alt, in every single aspect, except the climb rate where the k4 wins, with a small margin. Something simmilar with tha La7 too.
