Black Viper is good.  It tells you what to disable without adding a program of it's own.
My system now has 31 processes running (including AH) on Windows 7.

And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.

You guys dont create stop and start batch files anymore?

Open a CMD.exe window.

C:\net start > stop.txt

It will list all of your running services into a text file in your C:\ named stop.txt. Check at Black viper what you can stop for your gaming session. Then open stop.txt and delete all of the service names that you dont want stopped. Then the remaining service names do the follow:

Example -

 Net stop "Diagnostic Policy Service"
 Net stop "Diagnostic Service Host"
Net stop "Distributed Link Tracking Client"

When you have all of the service names set this way in your text file, then save as: stop.bat

Make a second one where you replace Net Stop with Net Start. Then save as: start.bat.

Place a link to these 2 files on your desktop. When you want to run them right click on the icon and choose: Run As Administrator

Then you don't have to leave an extra application running in the background during the game.

I haven't a clue what any of those do. :headscratch:  I'm a carpenter, I cut, chop and bang things for a living.

I like the idea of being able to free up some resources.  The Black Viper site had a list of things that maybe turned off.

Will give it a good read first.

ol' bustr is going back to the old school days of DOS  like 2.0, 3.0, 3.1 WFWG etc..... ( WFWG means DOS 3.1 Windows for work Groups )...... it still works just as good to day as it did back in the early 90's, as long as you get good guidelines to follow or know what you are doing to run a batch file ( batch file = <whatever>.bat  )

hope this helps  or is in sitefull....

Some of us are barely capable of running CCleaner and a decent Anti-virus program ... Bustr just plain scares me with his voodoo talk of DOS and batch files!

Game Booster isn't really needed unless you have a system with less than 2 gigs of RAM.
