Frame rates/Stuttering

Ive had some issues lately and I'm not sure what the problem is. For the last couple months I have had an issue in the ava where if I am within 200 feet of the ground my comp is stuttering, frame-rates are solid but screen is stuttering. During that time I could fly in the mains with no issues what so ever. Within the last two weeks it has gotten so bad I had trouble playing in either arena. I removed ground clutter which seemed to help. Last night I downloaded the new patch and my solid FR went from 59 to 17 or lower and the entire game seemed to lag terribly. My computer is not top notch but should t have issues running this game. Other than the lower tier HD im not sure what the issue could be...

what are your in game settings? Ground clutter and antialising chews up a lot of memory. I know when I had ground clutter on with my older computer Id get stutters, but with it off I was pretty smooth.

i was running everything on cept anti aliasing. Ive turned off the ground clutter now and its smoothed it out some but last nights patch threw that down and stomped on it. an update to the issue now is it runs decent until I get into a furball, then things get jumpy again. I know this computer is a few years old but damn. It runs bf3 full bore with no issues. Why is AH2 giving me problems?

When you say "everything on" does than mean you are running full environment mapping as well?  If so, that will cause serious performance issues.  The fastest video cards available might run with full environment mapping okay as long as they are paired with the fastest CPU available today.

Realtime environment mapping requires an additional 6 passes per frame to create the environment map.  The the GPU has to deal with projecting the map onto the surfaces with the proper perspective applied.  It is probably the most intense operation a video card can perform.

Also note, you are using the default Microsoft supplied sound driver and not the native sound card driver for you computer.  This will also cause performance issues.

Also note, the AvA terrains may contain a number of custom objects which are not going to be optimized like the stock objects are.  They will require more CPU and video card resources to draw.

I checked those drivers and did not see what I could do to change them they both seem to be up to date. Any ideas?

The Microsoft supplied sound driver is very buggy for DirectSound under DirectX.  It was only meant to be used for sounds under Windows.

Whoever makes the sound chip/device for your computer has a native sound card driver for it.

What is "TBH"?

Changing a driver is a simple matter.  Most drivers will find their own hardware when they install.  Or you can use the Microsoft tools in the device manager to have it search for the driver (once you install it) on your computer.

TBH - To Be Honest

I managed to download and install the realtek driver for my sound. I'll see if that makes a difference tonight. Getting that accomplished wasn't as easy as it should have been. Microsoft did not want to let its driver be replaced by the realtek driver.

I still get frame stutter around bases with many planes, fires, smoke etc.  TO the point its almost unplayable for me.
