Range E6b
« on: August 04, 2012, 08:37:18 PM »
Want a range ring (like radar ring) for your AC when E6B is up during flight.  It shows how far you will go @ max cruise.  It only updates when you refresh the E6B.

-1, I'd have to zoom out too far.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

I have an E6B for a watch.  I know how to use it but most do not.  If the clipboard e6b already does the calcs for you why not just have it show your max range?

Whenver I check range, its usually to see how much I need to throttle the engine back to get home, while still maintaining fleeing-speed.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

It already does...just not with a range circle on your map. No need for more than what it already gives you. As has been said already, grids are 25 miles square...

The range on E6B is not your actual range you can travel. It's simply how many mph you're doing times how much time you have left. It doesn't take into account altitude.

A "ring" is a dumb idea frankly, because it would be useless and not accurate. Just know 1 sector = 25 miles across. If you're low on gas keep all the alt you can. At 30k you can glide over 3 sectors with no gas left. If you're on the deck, spend some gas climbing very shallowly so that when you run out you can glide her in to land.

There are tons of ways to lean out a trip home, but the best one: TAKE MORE GAS WHEN YOU ROLL!

That wasn't flammed bud. They gave some good why its not necessary or why they don't think its needed. It doesn't make the idea good or bad, its just their opinion.

+1... :aok

I think it is a good suggestion.  Anything that can promote the game in a positive manner is welcome.  This is all that.   A great benefit especially for newcomers and Bombers doing multiple doglegs.
