9 Aug 2012 8th Air Force vs Luftwaffe Mission

We will be conducting an 8th Air Force Mission vs Luftwaffe Mission in the Allied vs Axis Arena this Thursday night at 9PM EST/8PM CST.  All are welcome to attend and participate either as 8th or LW.  This is a multi-life event.  Bring your pocket full of quarters because we'll make you go broke before your done.

There will be other active bases for players before and after the event.  For Mission purposes, please utilize the 8th and LW Airfields for mission sorties.

All Allied aircraft are enabled at A25 base.  Bf-109s are enabled at A60.  FW-190s and Ta-152s are enabled at A68.  Bf-110s and Me-410s are enabled at A65.

It is requested that Axis players refrain from going feet dry over England until 30 minutes after launch.  Axis players are free to pursue Allied aircraft across the English Channel and to English bases.

For those accustomed to Main Arena settings, there will be some slight differences.  For those accustomed to AvA settings, there will a couple of differences.  For those accustomed to Special Events settings, there will be some differences.

No dot radar or darbar for friendly or enemy
Killshooter will be ON
Friendly and Enemy Icon will be 3K
Auto-calibration for bombers

For those flying 8th AF, we will have 2 loaded Missions for 8th AF Bombers and Fighters if all goes to plan.  Just join the either Mission by selecting which aircraft you want.   Go to http://stevesscifishootout.forumsland.com and register to be included on the fun and details of flying an 8th AF Mission.

For those flying Luftwaffe, there is no official LW Commander.  That is an open position to be filled.  The LW Commander needs to have a plan of action and to get LW players organized to stop 8th AF.

Take a couple of hours away from the Late War Arena and fly in the BoB map with no radar and no darbar to see enemy or friendly to immerse yourself in the true long range high altitude bombing campaigns of the 8th AF.  Tell your freinds, squaddies and your grandma that this is where the action is at.  Real dogfighting at 25,000 ft between the best of both sides.  Are you up to the challenge?

The constant cloud layer in the AvA arena made me want to slit my wrist....very depressing... Can we have clear skies?

First you slit your wrists, then make a blood sacrifice on the megolith alter, then we get clear skies.  Not much of a sacrifice, you get to live, you'll just be a bit dizzy for a couple days.

We already have a plan to cover that.  We are going to have at least 6 pilots trck and engage you so our buffs have a chance of at least getting ne on target.  Those brave 6 pilots will all be volunteers of course because their chance of surviving agains you are slim to none, but it maybe, by chance, with a little luck, one buff sneaks past you, then we are good with it.

There is one issue with the plane set for the Allies, the P-38L was not flown by any fighter groups in the 8th AF and should be removed from the plane set.
