The King Tiger's dominance in the long range game is obvious.

As for those of you who have not have access or have not seen my spread sheet on AH tanks and their performance, here is a quick bit of info:

In terms of AP ability at 2000 yards in AH, here is the ranking:

King Tiger
Firefly
Panther
Tiger
Panzer IV H
Sherman 76mm and M18
Panzer IV F (L/43)
T34/85
Sherman 75mm
T34/76
Panzer IV F (L/24)
M8 Greyhound

Keep in mind that the ability of the projectile to penetrate the armor and the amount of damage the projectile can do once it penetrates are two different things.

Edit: Added 1000 yards AP ability ranking:

King Tiger
Firefly
Panther
Tiger
T34/85 with HVAP (drops off significantly at 1200 yards though)
Panzer IV H
Sherman 76mm and M18
Panzer IV (L/43)
T34/76 with HVAP (drops off significantly at 1200 yards though)
Sherman 75mm
M8 Greyhound
Panzer IV F (L/24)

If the T34's do not have HVAP available then they would hold their respective ranks as they do in the 2000 yard list.

As far as HE goes, the King Tiger, Tiger, and T34/85 still rule the roost with 234 lbs of damage, and then the Sherman 75mm is second with 185 lbs of damage (the LVT4 should be here as well since it fires the SAME HE projectile), then most other tanks are in the 154 lbs range, with the Firefly at 140 and the Sherman 76mm and M18 having only 108 lbs of HE damage.  Food for thought.   :aok

Why is the HE round of the 75mm Sherman significantly more powerful than the firefly or the 76mm? Thinner casing? Better explosive?

Lower velocity shell, so the shell casing doesn't have to be as thick to withstand being accelerated to several hundred meters per second in the distance of less than 10 feet.

Lower velocity shell, so the shell casing doesn't have to be as thick to withstand being accelerated to several hundred meters per second in the distance of less than 10 feet.

Check the amount of TNT in each shell.  As for the specifics if the US 75mm and 75mm Shermans, and the British Firefly and the 17 Pdr:

US 75mm = 8.86 kg warhead w/ .68kg pf TNT
US 76mm = 5.84 kg warhead w/ .39kg of TNT
British 17 Pdr = 5.84 warhead w/ .71kg of TNT (late war)

Keep in mind that the British developed a much better HE round for the 17 Pdr as the way went on, the HE round that AH has in game is modeled after the EW version which was less powerful.  I've posted on this issue before, but I think HTC should re-evaluate the tank HE and be more historically accurate with their HE values.  Each tank should get their due, imo.  Use the Panzer IV as the standard at 156 lbs of damage (keep it as is), then scale from there.

how late did the improved HE shells come out? If its like Febuary of 1945, then I don't think they should be represented in game.

However, I do think that the German and US tanks should also recieve a few rounds of APCR ammunition as an option. Say 5 per tank, since although they were historically used, they didn't see large use in the tank units.

Germans just never produced large quantities of the rounds IIRC, and for the USA, AT artillery got first go at the shells, and the TD units got second pick, and the tank units got what was left over.

Say, maybe 10 rounds of APCR max for the M18, to represent the greater use with tank destroyers?

For the brits, give them a similar number of APDS rounds, but have them do even less damage than APCR rounds do (smaller projectile).

Or for vehicles that used APDS more widely, such as the Cromwell and Valentine (with the 6lbers), we could give them a larger loadout of APDS as an option.

Or, we could just add on an extra loadout option including APCR/APDS rounds, that we can disable by arena if the rounds weren't used during the time period.

Panther, hands down. Has everything a Tanker can want, well, except the perk price at times lol. Great gun, sloping armor, perfect speed.

And the panther has a superior turret traverse speed as well.  That is hugely important if you need to put your gun on an enemy that might be flanking you.

Don't like tanking at all, wirbs, osties, m16's and jeeps are about all I'm interested in. I Just can't tank in this game at all and is the reason I went to WoT for a time. Yes its arcadey, but still waaay better looking, less gamey and miles more fun. I came back here for the air combat.

All tanks have the same OBJ rating, so they should get the same number of perks for killing objects.

Better check that stat.  It has an average turret traverse, ahead of the Tiger and Panzer IV (Tiger is by far the worst), behind the T34's, and in the same rank as the King Tiger, M4's, M18, and Firefly.  Nothing superior about it.   ;)
